yea it'll take the paint off. Then just wait for who ever is welding them on to grind the edges for prep.

i hope who ever is doing the welding has doing sliders..you'll want them lined up good haha and its kinda tricky.

300+ sets that I have personally setup myself and not one single failure.

Trail-Gear's gears are Yukon Gears in a blank white box. Same part numbers and all. Same gear you would get from Nitro as well since Yukon cuts their gears.

I mentioned the 5.29s because of the sail you drive around with on your roof. And, you mentioned the possibility of going 35s at some point. The A/T overdrive is crazy tall in these rigs. So, 5.29s work great for 33s if you tow a lot or 35s for a DD. You'll still run less rpms than a manual would with 4.56s.

FWIW, I don't push TG parts. Yes, I sell them, but I am also completely up front about the pros/cons. Some of their stuff is crap. Some isn't. Their gears are excellent quality.

Yo, Scotty! I hope you didn't get flooded out too bad on the Front Range:) I can attest to the quality of Scotty's white box gears, some of the hardest wheelers in CoTTORA have 'em.

True, but keep in mind that I am also a Yukon Dealer, Marlin Dealer, All-Pro Dealer, Inchworm Dealer, etc.

I use what works for me and what has been proven to last to the abuses I put things through. I've run at least 20 sets personally and have never had an issue. Nor a failure for anyone I have ever set them up for. That includes several buggies, and guys running 37-40" tall tires.

That is enough for me to say that they are very strong and very good quality gears. They share the Yukon Part #s and are "K" cut gears. "K" standing for Korea where Yukon cuts all of their gears.

The Nitro 29sp gears intrigue me, but not enough to justify the difference in price. I have yet to see a failure at the pinion splines that wasn't pure idiocy on the driver's part. And in all of those cases, a 29 spline pinion would have failed as well.

Because they just started moving into the Tacoma world in the last couple years. They have always been more of a solid axle type of company as well.

FWIW, I use Yukon gears when doing 8.4" and 7.5" gears. Yukon gears and install kits.

I wish TG would offer gears for those axles as it would be a quality gear at a reduced price.
