can anybody refer some good names for a stethescope? price isnt an issue, cause i can convice a certain someone to give it as a gift

also any good non digital watches that wont break the bank but look good and will hold up

thats the cheapest one i think...its a decent one though but look into the classic II as well and make sure to get a tag cuz they get stolen fast haha

 

I recommend getting a decent but cheap steth because you are going to forget it in a rig or its going to get picked up by accident in an ER or SNF. I would really like to get a nice 02 sat meter but I keep thinking that I would eventually lose it.

 

Classic II is what I have, I like it.

From what I gather, don't get anything more extreme and sensitive, or you can start picking up engine noises through the scope.

And don't get a pressure sensitive one either. Moving ambulance + attempting to keep that thing exact = Royal pain in the ass. Stick with the 2 bell types.

 

I'm in the market too. I've had a littman classic before and loved it but unfortunately I left it in the unit and never saw it again. I hate people that cant leave stuff alone. I'm in paramedic school now and need to buy one. I know you said nondigital but I recommend casio g-shock watches. best $60 i spent on ebay.

 

Don't your guy's work give you a spending allowance on gear?

I 2nd Casios. I have one that I bought 3 years ago at Wal-Mart for $10. Its super waterproof and really takes a beating. I bought it because I do a lot of work on cars and engines. It has a 10 year battery too. I'd buy another one when/if this one fails.

 

If you really want a good one littmann is the way to go I work in an ER and as a fire fighter and thats what most people recomend. I on the other had am cheap and use a $30 prestige cuz I am cheap and it gets the job done for what I need it to.

Really through EMT-B you can use a cheap one then the few years down the road when you want to become a medic you can splurge for an expenssive one.

 

I have gone through two littmans....classic II, which the tubing cracked and broke due to weather constraints (hot to cold and back) I bought the classic 2 which was made of more plastic, ie cheaper, still heard lots of sounds, etc. I came across a cardiology II, unclaimed, so I said to myself, "self, this is your stethoscope" at any rate, get a middle road stethoscope but hold on to it, they have a tendency to grow legs.....Littman FTW!
