I had 4 new duratracs put on my truck yesterday and after waiting for 3 hours to get them on they told me my alignment was off, I was just annoyed at this point and said dont worry about it as they wanted another 80 bucks out of me and i just wanted to get out of there. They said my right toe was -.20 is this way off? I think the range is like .0 to .13 or something. So now im paranoid about it no but I never know when these monkeys are trying to screw you over all they do is lie about everything i watched it for 3 hours as i waited! I hate letting other people touch my truck but the only thing i cant do is change tires and do alignments at my house.. What should I do?

I'm suspicious why they checked your alignment during a tire change. Is there obvious toe?

Go to Sears and get an alignment plan. You need an alignment after messing with anything suspension or wheels n tires. And Sears will give you best bang for your buck. If you get 80 alignments in six months they're only a dollar a piece :D

If you trust Sears to make adjustments to your suspension, sure. ;)

You can't cause alignment to drift by changing wheels and tires, but hitting potholes or going off-road can.

@DPR921: The combined toe range per FSM for your model (TRN245L-CRMDKA) is .22 deg toe-in to .00 deg. -.20 deg (negative means toe-out) on a single side would be a lot, IF the shop measured it correctly. Make sure your tire pressures are where you want them, then take it to the dealer or another shop you trust.

True. my local one was pretty professional although I've heard a couple bad stories. I guess it's subjective.

And what about a wheel with a different backspacing? Wouldn't you want it to be realigned so that the camber is correct? Not trying to start anything, honest question.

Wheel with different backspacing doesn't change camber, caster, or toe.

For hardcore race car alignment, they actually take off the wheels and mount machined plates on the hubs, so tire flex and rim runout don't spoil the measurement:

Yea im not sure why they checked it.. the stock dunflops lasted me 51k and wore perfect.. They said its so they know if they can offer a warranty on tires or not.. The truck tracks fine though so i dont know! Maybe ill just lift it and bring it for an alignment then ill feel like I really need one, or thats just what ill tell myself anyway.

It's possible the toe drifted out very recently.

Lift and bigger, heavier tires will begin to tax that 2.7L. At some point you'll talk yourself into a supercharger, too. :D
