Found a great deal on a 2012 Titan Crew Cab 4wd SV, I know everyone here is ridiculously loyal to their tacomas. But I really like the room and features/looks on the Titan and its a year newer with 20k less miles. Payment remains the same as I currently have. Lots of good reviews on the Titan besides the gas mileage. I was also looking into just lifting my Taco as well 3 inches and some new tires and shoes. What do you guys think?

Had an 06, 3 sets of brakes, trans coolant hose, and both exhaust manifolds under warranty. Exhaust was around 80k. MPG around 12. Cost of ownership with nissan is ridiculous. Very quick truck and towed well but for get about that 12mpg. All in all not a bad truck but when in the market for a new truck, I never looked at them.

Unless you need a full size, I'd just keep the Tacoma. You mentioned your payment would be the same but I'm assuming the Titan would have a longer term to pay off? I know a few people with the Titan and they really like it with the biggest complaint being gas mileage. It's pretty much non-existant with the Titan.

I would add though, even if you need a full sized truck, I'm not sure the Titan would be my first choice.

Even if you needed a full size truck, a titan would be the last thing I would look at.

Titan I nice , but I'd recommend a Tundra . My friend just got a loaded 2013 for cheap, they knock a lot off Msrp compared to the taco. And fuel mileage is comparable . Not to much worse if you don't have a lead foot .

The Titan on the other hand sucks fuel like you wouldn't believe .

Which engine does your buddy have in his Tundra? If he's got the 5.7L, fuel economy is just as bad, if not worse than the Titan.

Check insurance rates as well. I priced out a Tundra years ago and had the same payment. Insurance was double!

Besides that 20k on the Tacoma is nothing. 98k here and I have only replaced a cv... busted at my own doing.

Thanks for all the input guys. I really have no need for a full size, all my dirt toys fit fine in my tacoma. Just always liked the extra room/feel of a full size but again, cant beat tacoma reliability and mileage. Guess its time to start shopping for a lift.

That's one of the few cases I've heard of someone with the 5.7L averaging over 15 MPG that doesn't exclusively run the highway. Even if your dad is doing well with his, you can't argue that the 5.7L certainly isn't known for getting good fuel economy.

oh that i definately wont argue those things will drink gas like its nobodys business but if you dont abuse it im sure those mpgs aren't as hard to get as everyone thinks. but then again his truck is bone stoke cewmax with 5.7 and he has street tires as opposed to AT's or MT's. all i know is when you want it to be that truck is snap your neck quick lol

Titan is terrible. If you want fullsize F150, Silverado, or Ram are a lot better.
