Do you have your window sticker or any documents? Should be listed there.

I believe Entune Plus means that it has the HD radio, high definition screen. The next step up (which would utilize the website and apps) actually has the Navigation package, perhaps other things as well.

I believe if you have TRD package, you'll have Entune Plus at the very least. Every 2014 TRD I have seen has it.

I do have HD Radio etc... I but no navigation. If I had to guess, I would say I do not have it. I was really curious because I thought there was a way to sync contacts from my phone using some tool that was available. My phone is apparently not on the compatibility list. Also, I try to enter contacts by hand but every time I turn the truck off, they all disappear.

Yeah welcome to shitune. The only thing that is good about it is if you have the sub.

My 2014 entune with nav works great when not tethered. When I tether it to simply charge my phone via the USB, I get the "entune must be running on a phone to access apps" Message. Then the apps don't work! Shouldn't tethering make things work faster, better. Now I have to charge through the old cigarette lighter plug. What am I doing wrong?

If you're using an iPhone you need to download the Toyota entune app and then make sure it's open before plugging in your iPhone.

Try moving the entune app from the SD card to the phones internal storage.

Called toyota entune today, cool tech support, they actually had a head unit there experimenting with my problem. Unfortunately you cannot use the internet features while tethered. The reason is safety, because your phone won't block out bing while driving, but the head unit will. Also They figured out why the my messages app wouldn't work: you need to open up Bluetooth settings in your phone, click on the toyota connection and turn on notifications. I still think entune is really cool once you figure out how to use it. :):)

On my 2014 I will be listening to XM at one volume. Then change to FM and it will automatically put the volume where I last left the FM. Which sometimes could be loud or quite. Is there any way to fix this? As well as all the sound settings. Its not so bad the sound settings so I can customize the bass treble and mids for each source. Except when I change one. I have to change them all.

I'm glad I saw this thread. I'm going shopping g for a new taco today and was inclined towards the navigation unit until I read here they they won't allow it to be operated while the truck is moving. I have the passenger do that all the time.

Well you can operate some features while moving. If you search the canned searches while driving (i.e. restaurants, gas stations, ATM's ect.) you can only view the first 2 pages, about 10 listings, while driving. So you can look through ALL of the canned options but when you pick one, like restaurants, you can only see the first 2 pages of restaurants. If you want to search something that isn't in the canned list and want to be more specific while driving you can just go to Bing, press the mic button on the head unit (not the one on the steering wheel) and just say it ("Starbucks"). It will show you a list of options it thinks you said which is usually very accurate. You press the option you want and it will search all of the Starbucks or whatever you asked for in the area. It works pretty good and I use it all the time. Even with the canned options usually if what I was looking for wasn't within the first 2 pages, it isn't close enough anyway. When I need to search canned options more I will just stop quick select what I want and go. You can also search your current location or search your destination for what you are looking for which is also helpful. You can do all of this while driving.

Are you able to type in an address to set a new destination in the gps while driving?

No but you can press the mic button on the steering wheel and say "DESTINATION" followed by the address and the truck will build the address on the screen. When done it will ask if you want to navigate. This works most of the time but is not as accurate as the Bing app voice recognition is. You can also go to the entune app on your phone and load addresses in the Bing portion of the app and store them. Using Bing on the phone app is using the internet databas and not the map navigation database you use when pressing the steering wheel button. When you get into the truck you can download them from your phone which is quick but you must be stopped. Also to access the bing portion of the app on your phone you can't be connected to the truck because once connected the interface on the truck works and the app shows connected and you can't use the app because the truck is using it I guess. What I do is I disconnect from the truck on the phone, (just open the app and press disconnect) have my wife use the phone entune app from the Bing section and type the address. When the phone finds it she hits save. When I stop at a red light I download from the phone and I'm good. It's a little bit of a pain in the ass so usually if I need to actually type the address I will just stop. Sometimes you can press the bing button on the head unit when connected, press the mic buttin on the head unit and speak the address but that search function has a search radius so if the address you are looking for is in a different city it may be outside of the radius. In this case I would use the steering wheel mic button which is my go to button for exact addresses and the head unit bing button for businesses. A lot of info if you can follow it but it works smoothly and error free most of the time.

DON'T GET IT. IT IS A POS!

I personally think the head unit sucks for the navi. Yes the sound system part is perfect but navi lame.

If I knew what I knew not I would have not gotten it and got the Kenwood deck aftermarket.

An all the apps are stupid.

Totally agree, the Navi and other apps are pure garbage! Love it for the upgrading sound system and for stock it gets the job done nicely. Never have I had shut a SHITY Nav in a vehicle. My 2004 RX8 had a better nav system lol

It seems like people with the most problems have iPhones so maybe Steve Jobs is haunting your systems. I still like it, it's clean, simple and offers beneficial tools in the dash. Aftermarket systems can always give you more options, but with this there is the CD nav database and the Bing internet search which are different. Once you get the feel for it, it works well. I really didn't like it at first but with the updates I like it a lot. I don't want to cut into the dash and have an aftermarket system because IMO I think even most high dollar aftermarket systems look cheap like they don't belong. Like a bad photoshop in real life with flashy lights and colors that don't flow with the interior

Oh I get it now and it is a POS. It is a very unuser friendly unit for someone that needs navi on a daily basis.

I live in SLC, UT. When I first had it every time I tried the Voice activated address search half the time it would search in Puerto Rico and Florida. And the other half it would get the right state but the address was wrong. Maybe less than 10% of the time it would work. Then with manual input it would still half the time not recognize the addresses. And all of my searches were 15 miles from my home. I have my own business and can go to 3 to 7 homes a day that I have not been to before. So a gps is a huge benefit for me. So after a week or two of this I went to the dealer and they ordered and update for it. Well after 3-4 weeks they got it and installed through the USB. That maybe improved it by 10% but it still sucked big time. So after being pissed for a few weeks I wend and complained again and they ordered a new hard drive for the unit and again after 3-4 weeks they put that in. Then I would say that improved the function maybe by another 15-20% but it still sucked. So after a few weeks of trying to get it to work I went to the dealer again and complained then they got an other USB update (yes that was another 3-4 weeks to get that in) and updated the software. And finally it was marginally usable. Plus the trick of selecting the state to reset the address and it kind of works ok. BUT the voice input while driving is a crap shoot. Maybe one out of ten tries works. The biggest thing for SLC, UT is the software does not understand how the address system works here. So even at this point of upgrades I would say it only works half as good as the Garmin systems. The fact of the matter is the garmins are so easy to use and NEVER have problems with addresses.

So the moral of the story is if you need a navi that you are going to use on a daily basis DO NOT get the stock navi unit and get something with garmin software. But if you rarely use gps this should be ok for you. But the apps are still retarded.
