Does anyone know if you can upgrade the SAW coilovers to be extended length? maybe use the parts from kings or donahoe extended length? This would be for a 1st Gen Tacoma and yes i have upgraded UCA's!

I think they're already extended length? When I talked to them awhile back they said I could pull 10.5" with their A-arms.....not sure what tape measure they're using though

your a 2nd gen. Could be possible.

OP: best thing to do is contact SAW. I have never seen extended travel SAWs..only Foxes, kings or Icons.

You can do it with SAW parts. They have been selling them for years. Kind of pointless with 4wd, with or without after market arms.
Pull your lower mount bolt, pry the lower arm down a tad more than stock while rotating the axle and see for yourself.

Not really sure what you are showing me in that link....that is just the 2" SAW Coilovers from Wheelers and they are not extended length. Anyways i have the 2.5" CO's. Enlighten me please if i am missing something about that Wheelers link you sent me.

Go to the link, look at the pic in the upper left, 2 different lengths. Now go down to the last sentence in the paragraph at the bottom. You should feel enlightened.
As for 2.5" bodies give em a call. The pic on the 2.5" page actually shows a 2" on the left and a longer 2.5" next to it and there is no mention of different lengths.

FYI..2.0 vs 2.5 has NOTHING to do with length of the shock man. It has to do with the shock bodies.

it would appear you can get extended SAWs in 2.0 and 2.5s.

i just saw an option under the 2.0 for having aftermarket UCA's which "Might" mean there extended length for those but oddly enough there was no price increase for them so i dont really think that means there extended length and for the 2.5s there was no option that i saw. and yes i know what 2.0 and 2.5s are Blackdawg :p

The differenct between most extended vs standard travel coi overs..is a 1/4'' spacer inside the shock. the extended ones just remove the spacer. Lucky for you, SAW doesn't seem to charge more for that..I would have gotten those if i was shopping for CO and SAWs. even with stock UCAs to add uniballs later.

Im sure if you send em in to get rebuilt you can have them made into extended. Like i said its usually just a spacer.

I Thought the donahoes Ext. Length CO's had a longer eyelet section below the coil.

As far as length, yes and yes again. SAW shock bodies and shafts come in ROUGHLY 2" increments, way more than the difference in the 2 lengths.

Notice the longer bottom, i.e extended vs non-extended

Looking at the ICON website you might be right, i must have only seen the 2nd gen Ext. Length Coilovers so i thought you could get a new shaft and make it EXT. but it doesnt look that wqay on the Icon website. Well i emailed wheelers and SAW so we'll see if i get an email back.

ok, so I've been kinda curious about this too as I'm still learning about suspension as well. So what all is needed in order to run the Extended length shocks? Just aftermarket UCA's? And all they do is provide more droop?
