links wheel extreamly well but suck on the road and are expensive to do. So i guess it depends on what you want to do with the truck.. Im going 50/50 link the front and leaf the rear, that way i can still street it around and wheel decent..
My thing is the cage. i had a truck with a cage once i wouldnt do it again..

Why? Haha. 1 more inch of side wall and big brake kit:p is thise because they dont make a 33 that is 12.5" wide? Cuz you are stepping up to 35's and the 315/75R16 is about 35x12.50. Probably just as close as all the 15's and 17's that are rated at 35x12.50 anyway. And if you go to Super Swampers they make everything in floatation sizes instead of metric. Haha

Yeah, but while Monte likes his 15's (for good reason, I wish I coukd run them) he has said he would rather run a 17 than a 16. Just looking for a good reason. Haha
On paper for KM2's, the 35x12.50R15, 315/75R16 and the 35x12.50R17 are all listed as the the exact same height. The only difference is both 12.50's are listed as 12.5" wide while the 315 is listed as 12.3" wide. That's not even noticable really and you can affect that by just running different wheels and air pressures. and the 315's are about $100 less for a set of 4 than the R17's.

only reason id run a 17 is i can still get real 35x12.5s and run tundra brakes. Thats it. i see if i can come up with something to improve my brakes though with my 15s..

Bah. Fuck tons. Toyota makes one of the strongest axles out there. Its just the birfields that are the weak link

And ya that first map has me in the destruction zone.. Ill just head north :)

if you are talking 35's then go with R16 cuz of cost the rest is so comprable that it doesnt matter..

You forget that i had a caged built crawler befor i got my taco.. that birf is not the only weak link.. ive had to replace housing befor and a entire nuckle assy. in moab once.. Ill put tons under this truck and not worry about that being a weak link at all. My thoughts are to build a truck that the weak link becomes traction and that is the best one to have..

Yeah lots of factors come into play, but assuming you are running the same wheel and psi I would guess that they would come out to pretty close to all being the same height and width as each other since those numbers came from the same manufacturer.

why no links? ill tell ya why. Quite simply, I am a lazy fuck. Designing a link set up is a lot of work. Dealing with coil overs is a lot of work. Leafs are easy, they position the axle, hold it in place, and i dont think they get death wobble as much as a coil/coil over. You can get leafs to flex pretty darn well. Heck, the front of that truck i posted flexes better than the rear. I think I can wheel to my hearts content and be fine on leafs.

side note, anyone have any idea what leafs/shackle size is on that truck?
see i know I want a cage, an exo cage at that, because I know im going to flip it. And it is a lot of work to fix the body of a truck when it lands right on its lid, say off a ledge. Dont want to mess with that. So ill deal with whatever inconveniences i have to deal with to have a cage that protects most of the cab and the engine bay. I wouldnt tie it into the bumper like that truck, it would go into the engine bay and go to the frame most likley.

speaking of which konsta...in 3 years or so when this actually becomes possible...can you help me build a cage, or just help me with the whole fucking thing lol?:D

Monte! I located one of your brethren on campus today! I've seen this guy in a gym a few times now but today I saw him get in a SWB 2nd gen. He always wears a shirt that says "Lander Crossfit" on it at the gym and the taco has WY plates on it. He wasn't driving it, but I imagine his friend who was did crossfit as well since they were working out together.

The only catch... His Taco is more chromed out than Cameron's or mine ever dreamed of being!!!

And Cameron's had a lot of chrome on it when he bought it... I'll have to snap a pic of this one though.

    Here's Cameron's all chromed out.
