Who has adjusted their clutch medal assembly? Trying to see if I can adjust where the clutch engages, currently it is near the top but It does bit seem that the clutch is failing so I think I should be able to adjust it. Any input? Tips?

Pretty good indication your clutch is going south.

There is no adjustment. Toyota uses a hydraulic clutch. Time to check the clutch master and slave for problems, but most likely you are looking at a worn out clutch.

The only place that I'm aware of where an adjustment could be made is the clutch master, the tip can be extended or retracted somewhat with an open-end wrench. But this just really engages the free play in the pedal.

I did my clutch a while back when I did the throw-out bearing sleeve. At that time the clutch engagement was pretty high in the pedal, but it never slipped, just engaged high. And there was a sort of plunger-type sound when I used the clutch pedal.

My clutch had plenty of lining, but I changed it anyway due to miles on it and the fact I had everything apart and had new parts. It still engaged late on the new clutch. Then I changed the clutch master, and it engaged at normal height and the plunger-type sound was no longer there.

One thing to note - I first used a generic clutch master from a well-known online auto parts site. It was crap. Within a few weeks I replaced it with an OEM clutch master which fixed my problem completely.
