I just bought a Tacoma so forgive me if this sounds stupid, the manual shows a key to turn on/off the airbag on the passenger side, but my truck just has a plain plastic where the key should be. What gives? Surely this can't be an option can it?

Do you have a Double Cab? The Double Cabs do not have the switch as the passenger air bag is activated by weight in the seat.

That's it in a nutshell^^^^^.Actually, when that plain cover is removed,it reveals the wiring for the shutoff in all models.

Yep, double cab. That explains why it is missing - Thanks.

In my previous car, I always turned it off when by dog rode shotgun.

If your dog is light enough,he may not activate the bag.It will indicate on the dash if the bag is active or not.

My laptop bag causes the airbag light to blink.

I actually just bought a 2002 Tacoma and for some reason the previous owner mounted a cell phone holder base right over this key switch and light?? Wondering if anyone knows where I can get a replacement light and housing plate that goes over this key switch with the light in it. It pops out and has an electrical plug on the back of it.
