The light on the recirc button turns off when you move the setting to defrost.

Absolutely. You are cooling pre-cooled air. The evaporator condenses out any moisture from your body and it drains out the bottom.
Running "fresh" air, you are attempting to cool ambient down 20-40 degrees... which ain't happening in one pass.

When I get in the truck, I start the AC with the window cracked to blow the heated cabin air out.
Once I start to feel a chill on the vents, I shut the window and switch to recirc.

If I don't drop the fan to the lowest position on anything but the hottest days (105+), I'll freeze my ass off.

When my wife is riding with me, she'll crack her window and light up a smoke. I'll immediately switch to fresh air to blow the smoke out, and the cab immediately jumps 10-20 degrees unless I move the blower to high.

exactly, its dryer, which helps with the fogging.

ONLY when the AC compressor is running.

When the AC compressor is not running, you are recirculating air that is getting more moist every time you exhale.
    It will fog VERY quickly.

I had the same problem and went to the dealer thinking there was a problem. They said to use the defog settings (the 2 settings furthest clockwise) to clear the humidity, both these settings activate the air conditioning even though the AC light may not on. The air conditioning draws the moisture out but if you leave the defog settings on all the time moisture builds in the ducts, just be sure to use any of the other settings 5-10 mins before shutting the truck off.

Seems to work for me.....just have to remember to shut the defog off.

My truck has done this since new... mostly in the winter months. It's got so bad that i've had to scrape the ice off the INSIDE of the windshield... never had to do that with any other vehical i've owned. It seems like the interior gets it's own weather system. Alot of nights while parked in the driveway the outside of the glass is clear and dry but the inside is completly fogged up (truck hadn't been driven in days.) I've tried the vents opened, closed, you name it... nothing has made much of a difference.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
my 2013 windshield is foggy every morning.. drives me nuts, and its the only one that has been this way.. Maybe they use a different coating or one of the new chemicals they use since they got rid of some of the old chemicals they used building the things.

My 13 is abnormally foggy as well. Especially right in the center towards the bottom of the windshield. I just let it warm up before I drive and it's all dried up. No biggie if you think about how cool the truck is over all.

Yea its just wierd, if i jump in it in the morning i have to run defrost and wipers for the first few miles.. and the windshield looks like it has a film of some sort on it..

I have the same exact thing. I'm going to try rain x on the outside, hell maybe on the inside if it gets worse the colder it gets. Sometimes I'm just to impatient to let it warm up.

i wait for oil pressure and go, usually too tired to go start it and let it warm up for 5 minutes wasting gas when its 50 degrees out at night..

And ive been thinking about same thing, the last week the temp here has been dropping and its still very humid so it seems like every day its getting worse. I will be officialy irritated with it if it freezes inside the truck.
