thing-a-majig?

on my auto shift console there is a little square opening about 3/8 square.Does anyone remember what that did? i think it had a plastic doo-hickey that goes into the thing-a-majig,i just can't remember i must have been playin with my hoosey

 

yeah theres like a little button in there you hold down and can shift. prob if you break down or something and its in park. Its and override switch.

 

In order to move the shift lever out of park, you must put your foot on the brake. The shifter has a brake interlock solenoid system. If this system fails, you can maually override it by sticking you key in the slot under the little plastic cover. You then put your key in the ignition, start the truck and move the shifter into drive.

well, as long as the whatchyamacallit is all good, then no prob. Thing-a-majig be damned!

 

My girlfriends dog managed to eat through my brake-light wiring (exposed in shell) and it blew the fuse to the brake lights... because of this my truck would not come out of Park. I had to press the thingamajig everytime I drove for 2 days until I could fix the wiring and replace the fuse.
