so hopefully you guys dont get sick of these questions, but for new tires/lift, i want something thats like a 33 or 34, maybe 255/85? I want something that i can offroad with, but will work as an everyday tire too. as far as the lift i was thinking 3", either OEM or bilstein 5100?
Id love to come to the next mod day just to observe/ask some questions, im still really green as far as all of this is concerned.

Thanks Phil I just saw this, Ended up getting a hold of Dave and borrowed his Icon wrench.

Looks like Production offroad is somewhere to avoid. I honestly have no clue how they let the 4Runner leave like that, The CV angles we're atrocious... almost to the point of binding. 5-6" lift out of a mid-travel set up...haha

Apparently the Icon instructions said to put them at "x amount" of pre-load but he has his set up with #700 springs (Edit: With no armor..YET and they put a ton of preload on there)...they still let it leave the shop like that. Also got grease all over his headliner on a brand new 2013 4Runner!! I'll stick to mod days, end up with a much better end result. :D

BTW, Phil what Firestone do you use and is there any particular tech you go too?

right now i have a 2013 TRD sport, stock everything, about 6k miles on it.

Im not quite sure but from what im reading i guess i can achieve a 3" lift with 5100's up front (but that i should also add a UCA) and maybe a leaf pack in the rear?
not sure if it matters but i wouldnt be opposed to getting a complete lift kit for the front and rear (does that make sense?)

Everyone has their own opinion on what brand, lift, use etc to get so with that said there are hundreds of options. The biggest factor being how much will your truck be offroad?

I personally started with billies on stock coils and an add a leaf and achieved about 2.5 inches of lift on stock tires, UCAS, and coils. This is pretty much a standard choice for what you are looking for (billies on four corners and the add a leaf). Other options include Old Man Emu (OME not to be confused with OEM ((original equipment manufacture)), and also ICON. However a lot depends on your budget.

Whatever you decide just don't go to a shop! There is way to much experience here and lots of mod days to get your stuff installed without paying an arm and a leg to a shop looking to make a buck!

I'm the guy Aaron helped today. MUCH THANKS to him and for you guys letting us borrow your wrench today. We brought it down from about 5" to lift to 3". It's got a slight rake (about 1" difference between front and rear) but that's as high as I was comfortable going with in order to keep the CV boots still looking halfway decent. They were absolutely awful before. Baffled they sent me on my way like that. I can post some decent before and after shots if any of you are interested.

Also just realized the shop installed my MT offset lower links with the grease zerks pointed down... not the deal.

Although today was for the 4Runner, I actually also picked up a Tacoma as well in the last couple months. I love it! It's a black '05 AC TRD OR.

It's got the adjustable lift Bilstein 5100 coilovers in the front currently set at 1.75". I'm actually going to be looking at bringing it up to 2.5" when I get a chance.

Also meant to ask, and this is piggy-backing on Aaron's question... if I go to Firestone with my 4Runner that now has a stage 5 on it, will they be able to do the lifetime alignment deal?

I was browsing and saw Bert's Alignment Shop had good reviews as well, anyone ever had experience with them?

Lastly, I'm ordering an Icon spanner wrench TONIGHT so if anyone ever needs one please hit me up... gotta pay it forward.

Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.
Both Paul and I have used production with great results. I am planning on having them build me a custom cross member for an air tank and possibly a compressor. If the directions said to do XYZ and they did XYZ but you were expecting ABC because of the coils then I can see why...no biggie get the wrench and alignment and all is well.

I don't use Firestone for my alignment. They said they wouldn't work on my truck blah blah blah. I use the merchants tires on independence near little creek. They do a great job and I got the 5 year alignment package for thw cost of 1.5 alignment jobs. Their techs are awesome and do exactly what I want without question. They are getting used to me coming in with the Taco and requesting obscure specs now. They are also good to me with other odd jobs like swapping springs on coilovers for a couple of bucks.

    Good luck.

True. I have Wardens. I'm pretty pleased with them. Hardly any noise and they look great. Just say when.

I'm actually going to drop my front end about an inch. It may help the ride a bit also.

    True!

    I understand what you're saying. Here's why I wasn't satisfied overall:

-I told them the kit had 700# springs. That up front will tell you it's going to be a different setup than standard 650 when you've got no extra weight (for now)
-They stained my headliner with greasy fingerprints
-Asked for 3" lift to make it level, got 5" and not level. They didn't bother looking at the CV joints because if they had, they never would've let me leave the shop like that. When I asked if they measured the amount of lift, they told me I didn't specifically ask for them to do that
-They didn't want to make it right mechanically until I noticed the greasy headliner and made them aware of it.

Anyway, so that's that... What alignment specs are you running on your Tacoma right now?
