The chrome bumper never bothered me, but the chrome grill started peeling by year 2. Now I have a sport and find I really like the color match.

Gotta disagree, I bought my V-Strom because it doesn't have chrome!

I don't mind the chrome grill though.

X2 The only reason I got chrome was because of the every 2 out of 3 trucks I see have black wheels. I wanted something different from eevvverryybboddy else. I mean look at the poll haha.
But i'm not hating on black it looks sick aha

I am replacing my front grille with a body colored unit, but I personally prefer the chrome rear bumper. With the body colored bumper, it looks too much like a car. I don't mind it on an all-black or all-white truck, but any of the colors in between it just doesn't work for me.

I honestly thought I'd be okay with the chrome grille, but seeing more and more body colored units, I caved.

I don't mind a little chrome, but too much is one of the fastest ways to make almost any vehicle look terrible. I actually like the chrome grill on the OR's, but one of the reasons that I think it looks good is that is the only chrome item on the front end.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I don't mind it as long as it's not overdone and think it looks great. I really love the chrome splashed classic cars, they were just bathed in it but were so beautiful.

I like the chrome grill on the OR but I think it helped to blacken the chrome grill badge.

I only like it on a Black GMC Sierra but only some. This looks great to me, minus the steps.

I prefer the chrome front bumper on the 2002 TRD Off Road I previously owned to the current painted front bumper, but mostly because it was an actual steel bumper, not a painted plastic faux bumper (cover).

Finally blew the motor at 230,000, sprung for a Jasper with 100,000/3 year warranty. The birdpig has a new set of wings! OME heavy load lift kit, Dakar leafs w/AAL, frame mounted energy suspension 4.5" bumpstops, 882 coils, nitrocharger sport shocks, trail gear sliders, addicted offroad front bumper, KC 130w daylighters, Warn M8000, 31" BFG KM2's, custom dents and Nevada pinstripes.
I flat blacked the chrome on my grill and front bumper, I just like the look with my color (dark green). I didn't bother blacking out the side mirrors or door handles. I have my front bumper up for grabs if somebody wants a stock 1st gen front bumper with the chrome blacked out. I do have a pet peeve with extra chrome. Chrome Nerf bars have got to be the silliest aftermarket addition to a tacoma out there, next to chrome fender flares. Might as well throw on some indiglo under lighting and a big windshield decal that says "calliente". To each his own. My rig gets beat up, so flat black rattle can touch ups look better than pitted, scratched chrome. I keep my winch fairlead sprayed with dry film graphite powder lube, it has a nice gunmetal black/silver look, snow and mud don't stick to it, and I just respray it when it gets worn off after a pull. I will concede that the stock chrome grills look good with some of the brighter factory colors on the later gens, especially the bright blue. It's all personal preference. My truck lives on the dark, dirty, dented and scratched side of the tracks, so chrome just looks out of place.

Chrome is an interesting material. I didn't like the chrome on the Accord...until I saw a silver one. The silver and chrome mixed is nice and blends well. On a dark color, don't really like it.

I grudgingly accept chrome because of it's protective properties being much superior to paint, such as for the steel bumper on my 1st Gen. Chrome in good condition will never rust.

But if the parts aren't metal that need protecting, color-matching is preferable.
