Nah, I'd fit right in with you Maniacs. I'm a MA transplant, I grew up in the middle of nowhere.

 

You can't say V8 diesels are junk across the board. Ford and Chevy have had good and bad luck with various V8 diesels over time but some of them have been great. I agree about the 5.0L, not holding my breathe for that to be anything impressive.

x2, my old man's Duramax gets better mileage than my Tacoma. He can push 23 when unloaded on the highway. It's an extended cab 4x4.

Definitely! Most of my family is much further upstate and I visit as often as I can. My wife and I try to get up to Maine at least a couple times a year also but this year has been nuts.

 

i can for a fact say that v8 diesels are most definitely NOT as reliable as inline diesels.

 

If you're just comparing Dodge's inline 6 to Ford and Chevy's V8, I'm not sure you can say that. Dodge has had their fair share of problems with their in-line diesel also. If you start bringing larger diesels into the comparison then I'd agree since most heavy equipment and heavy haulers are in-line engines and run forever.

I never once said anything about brand. Look up reliability between inline and V diesels. Inline wins every time.

 

I assumed you were keeping the discussion within the realm of passenger vehicles, 1 ton and under. Comparing heavy equipment engines to a 3/4 or 1 ton truck is a completely different animal.
