What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Nope! I'm not making up for not having long travel by using spacers

They tuck in nicely and don't rub the uca or frame!

 

I'm running a 4" BS and 285s. Had no issues with rubbing the UCAs although I do rub the frame at full lock.

 

I wish I had 4" or maybe 4.25" backspacing for the rear. Too bad it would look dumb haha

Haha me either. Just 4" BS rubs the frame too much.

 

if you look on bfgs site the 285s are only like .4 shorter than the 255s.

 

285 is the width number. since is 285/70r15 its a 31'' and a 285/75r16 is a 33

 

Not even sure if thats right Monte, I've had 33"'s next to my 285/75/16's & the 33's were alot bigger , not only wider but taller.....

 

285/75s are a 32.8 or something..by like 11.3ish

they are smaller then a 33x12.5 or 33x10.5 r15.

16s metric rim size shit is stupid haha

but most refer to 285s as a 33'' tire..but a 295/75 is closer to the same as a 33x12.5

 

It's crazy what an inch will do. My 12.50s are almost night and day to the 285s. Put them side by side, I think if they 285s were new they would have been about the same height

 

Yea probably pretty close to the same height. What brand of tire has a lot to do with it too.

 

The toyo 33 12.50r18 runs at like 33.3 or .4 I think. The old ones were toyos as well. Kinda wish I woulda stayed with 285s but damn the 12.50s looks so good

 

^I wish I could get a 33x11.5. I like that width, and I wouldn't have had to cut my truck as much.

 

285 is basically a 11.50 tire I think

 

yes it is, 265 is 11 and 255 is 10.5

What are the tire sizes you are running? I am curious because I have 285/75R16s with a 4 inch BS wheel and have no contact at all with the frame at full lock, both directions. Just trying to get a comparison.

 

BFG AT/TA 285/75R16 on Dick Cepek DC-2 16x8 w/ 4" BS.

Truck is lifted with OME 882s and 1/2" top plate spacer.

Edit: Another data point, when I had BFG AT/TA 265/75R16s on the stock rims, I had frame rub at full lock. Going to 4" BS stopped it.

No rub at full compression either? Looking to go to 285/75/16 but it seems that everybody has a difference experience with rubbing.

 

I know with my 285's i get rubbing at full stuff, the fender flare's rubbed pretty bad so i took those suclers off and im getting a little rubbing on the front plastic. but that is at full as shit stuff!
