a component set is going to be ur best bet and it all depends on what ur looking for, infinitys will be a slight upgrade imo they will be alot better than the stock tweeters, do the ole listen to them at best buy and go from there

Have you invested an aftermarket head unit yet? Its worth it to get one first, the sound quality//power is better, two fold.

Also were you going to run an amp to the speakers or just head unit power? From there we can find you the right speakers.

speakers wiht higher sensitivity will play louder with less power, so if u decide no amp, or even no HU go with a speaker that has sensitivty in the 90's

One problem with going to best buy and listening is that the space at which you are listening to the speakers is much different than the interior of your truck. Infinity will be loud but will also be lacking in the bass department.

So the sets i like for deck power or even a small 2ch amp are the Polk 6-1/2'' DB6501 components, 10 - 100 watt RMS and 92 DB or Infinity Reference 6-3/4'' 6030cs components, 2 - 90 watts RMS and 93db. i like the infinity because they are 6-3/4" and are more sensative. Both have room for growth if down the road you want to put a amp to them but i think the Polk's would sound the best if you were going to amp 'em. *Sigh* im torn between those 2, i had infinity's in my old car and sounded great but did lack alittle bass but they were 6x9's i think the 6 3/4" should be better bass wise but im putting in the DB's in my Taco with an amp. Gotta just go listen to them somewhere that sells.

6x9s are going to have better bass, so thats something to consider... i have also heard that the polk dbs have good bass output and had a freind who had them in his 87 civic anyways they sounded pretty good and the internet is your friend, buy last year models and save big

I have the DB6501's in the front and rear doors. they sound good, however, the bass is lacking.

Toytec ultimate lift kit, light racing UCAs, ARB bumper and full skid plates underneath. Looking into redoing the suspension and maybe repainting the ol' Taco.
A tad more expensive than what the OP was originally looking at, don't you think?

Plus the focals need a good ammount of power. Id say Polk DB6501s.
