Then I have one more paper test after that, and a few more flights.

2-3 more weeks and then it's back to Missouri though...

True haha it's not bad, but now that I've been here for 4 months I love it!

Could be worse though, could be at Canon AFB, Creech AFB, or Ellsworth AFB. I think Missouri is the second best after this place.

My job is very limited on where I can be stationed. Literally only those 5 bases are my options.

It's actually a really cool place to live, out by Ellsworth is kinda a shitbox area but Rapid City is a cool town and the hills are like a little mountainous oasis in the middle of BFE

I would love to be out there in the Summer. But I hate the cold so that's a no go... Missouri is cold enough.

 

I'm working out of Boeing for the next 3-4 years. Only problem is, I have no access to .mil sites (ADLS and the like). So I can't do half the annual stuff I am supposed to without driving an hour to McChord.

Well I'm hoping to come back to New Mexico in the next 2-3 years. I'd be an instructor then and would work closer to normal hours.

 

I miss living on a base with Aircraft. Hill AFB always had jets going and I liked seeing and hearing them. The bases here have some aircraft (like Peterson AFB) but they don't seem to do as much jet stuff. Mostly cargo planes.

Btw three of us tried to steal a military jet in GTA last night. Took a helicopter in and I ran into the freaking tail rotor and died.

Having grown up in the Kansas City area then moving up to Rapid, the winters really aren't all that different. They both have their cold snaps down below zero (a little more common up north but it's not consistent by any means) but both also get random warm periods where you'll be in the 60s to 70s in February. We had like 2 weeks last year where we went snowboarding in March in our swimming trunks and tank tops. The black hills screw with the weather patterns so it stays quite mild right in Rapid.

Granted, you're still stuck in South Dakota haha. I just regularly hear people that go on a trip through there and are surprised at how much they actually enjoyed the area. I can see how both are a bit of a shock from NM though
