That is saying all V8 diesels are junk, regardless of brand. Some are worse than others, but there are a lot of V8 diesels on the road with a ton of miles that arent "junk"

He did the ninja edit on you!

What you said is exactly what I was trying to say except just trying to limit it to full size pickups, 1/2 ton to 1 ton. Once you get into larger stuff, they're completely different.

we were talking about the new titan with 5.0l right? using a V8 diesel configuration... it's junk. the Inlines torque up faster, and at a lower rpm, and also make better MPG's than the v8's. also, if v8's were awesome, and produced power like the inlines, TT's would be using them. My point is, with the new technology, and knowing which diesel option is better, Nissan is going to skimp with a V, and make a pile of shit. just like they always have. just like chevy does.

Once again, you can't compare a tractor trailer engine with a 1 ton truck. To do so is just a silly argument. I would agree that the characteristics of an inline engine tend to be more favorable but if the engine isn't reliable, the torque it produces is meaningless. So, coming back to full sized trucks and diesels, your track record would be comparing the Dodge inline diesel to Ford's or Chevy's V8 diesels. I really don't believe that Dodge has a more impressive track record than the other 2. If you look at smaller diesels in cars, they are hit or miss and they're ALL inline diesels.

Jury is still out on the 5L V8, just have to wait and see how it performs.

Rumor has it that Cummins is going to be making the 5.0 diesel for Nissan. Given Cummins reputation for quality engines, I very much doubt that it'll be "junk"

Typically you see inline engines used for industrial purposes because they're inherently less prone to vibration. Because of that, you can scale them up pretty easily without dramatically increasing the amount of vibration generated. Plus, generally in industrial applications the extra space taken up by an inline six is a non-issue.

V-8's are more common for trucks for several reasons. One is space; most US-made full sized trucks are designed around a v-8 motor. They simply don't have space for an inline design. Another is power band; inline engines have fairly narrow power bands compared to a V-8. Not an issue when you're dealing with industrial applications, but it can be problematic when you're driving something on the road.

Both engines have strengths and weaknesses. If you're looking at overall reliability of all diesel engines, it's important to remember that industrial engines are run at pretty consistent RPMS, and the entire engine is designed around that, which makes for very long life cycles. (The ski slope I used to volunteer at had some engines from the 50's with over 500,000 hours on them). By comparison, my cousin's Volkswagen Jetta threw a rod just shy of 150k.

2- 55 watt fogs, probably use a 15 amp fuse right? Now the question is white driving pattern or yellow fog pattern bulbs, hmmm

Yup. Each light draws a little under 5 amps. If I am using Joules first law the right way anyways.

The bulbs draw 9.2A in a perfect world. I have 2 pairs of 55W lights, one pair will run off a 10A fuse, the other needs a 15A fuse. I'd use 15.

If you're looking at PIAA, you can get yellow driving, at least in the 520's you can, not sure about 510's. I'd get driving or ATP pattern, I wasn't impressed with PIAA's fog pattern.

They do have yellow fogs for the 510s. The 510s that come with them have that weird blueish lens. I have johns old 510s and they come with the white driving pattern bulbs, one blew out on him so i bought a replacement and ordered the yellow ones at the same time. Just because :D. Now i gatta sell your lights mike lol

I misread your post before mike. I don't think they have a yellow driving pattern bulb for 510s, only fog

If you already have the housing, I don't think the bulb will do anything besides change the color. The housing should dictate the pattern.

    Jesus fuck you are dense

:D j/k. I actually didn't know that, i thought the bulb made the difference but that makes sense. I may just have to do a little night wiring and see which one i like better then.
