Hey all just figured I'd share my truck. Got it December 2012, 2013 4cylinder 4x4 5 speed access cab. It took a while to get used to it since I've always had big trucks but its a great truck overall. I've got wheelers 2 inch aal, 5100's with ome 885's and lr ucas.it has 265/75-16fierce attitudes on blackrock wheels and spidertrax wheel spacers. I got a cb tucked into the center console thanks to Benson X, yellow wire mod and my own take at a rebadge. I moved the door badge to the fender like the late 70's ford trucks and I separated the tailgate badge and everything is sprayed with krylon fusion. Future plans are sliders tints and maybe a front bumper. This site is overflowing with information and 99% of the time a google search followed by the word tacoma will find an answer on this site

i came from a 4banger xB to a V6 taco. i love 4bangers when they have added power but stock 4 bangers are too sluggish for my taste but then again im young and have a lead foot ;) :laser:

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
    i had a 2008 AC 4x4 4cyl 5spd
    Now i have a 2013 AC 4x4 6cyl 6spd

I loved the truck, but i would never choose it over the 4.0 again.

-barely any better MPG, actually almost identical
    -way less power

the 2tr is a great engine. and would ROCK in a 83 yota pickup. But the taco is too big.

I got it in the first place, because after many old yota's in both v6 and 4cyl i ALWAYS like the 4cyl better, i always believed toyota built a better 4cyl than they did v6 and so when i bought the 2008 thats what i got. BUT i was wrong, they finally figured it out.

Other than that, nice truck man :)

i get 19-20 around town in my 4runner 4.0 auto around town with 285/75/17 (little bigger than 33)

i drive exactly the same in the 4.0 tacoma as the 2.7 except i dont have to downshift, i can pass without downshifting. and i can pull a trailer happily..

same 15-16 mpg average. same size tires 265/75r16 same size lift.

best i ever got was 23 on a road trip @ 55mph with 245/75r16 in the 2008.. completely empty, no trailer

best i ever got im my v6 2nd gens was 23.5 (497 miles one whole tank) pulling a car dolly, loaded with a weeks worth of vacation stuff.

The 2.7 works too hard to lug the access cab and bigger taco around, it does it well for what it is but it suffers on MPG because of it.

you must drive nicer than me :)

Im not trying to hate on it, if it works for you then awesome! I just know from experience it doesnt live up to many peoples expectations. It doesnt get enough MPG easily to justify all of the shortcomings in every other category.. For myself at least.

Now if it reliably got 25 mpg, without pulling my teeth out to drive it. I would be satisfied and live with the 2.7 again. Unless that happens i will live with my marginaly worse MPG and much better performance of the 4.0

Thanks for the replies and compliments everyone. Since I posted I've done color matched grill surround and led light bar in the lower bumper. I got the 4 banger because I really wanted a base model for the black flares/bumpers/mirrors/door handles and the dealer claimed they couldn't find what I wanted and I was in a real pinch cause I needed a vehicle yesterday so to speak. So I settled for the truck they had on the lot. I don't mind it I got a 75 f250 with a built up 390 big block for towing and feeding power cravings.

And I live in Stillwater it's about 20 minutes from stoke and jumbo land which is an awesome diner.

Hey, OP, I just got a '13 2.7 4x4 myself. What kind of mileage did you lose going from stock 245/75r16s to your bigger, chunkier tires?

    P.S. Nice rig.

It's hard to tell exactly how much mpg I lost because I put the tires on around 6000 miles on the truck and everyone says that's when the motor is fully broken in and your mileage increases... Don't know how true that is but I'd say about 1-2 mpg runnin it hard. And regear would be cool but I'd like to try to change out the transfer case gears be cause it feels perfect on road right now but a little lower in the trails would be nice.

with the 33's my truck was useless in 4h

getting into a little bit of muck meant revving the piss out of it & slipping the clutch. 4l was a must especially back where we were.

the 2.7's, especially 5 speeds, need a lot of gear with bigger tires.. IMO of course.. maybe I just suck at driving!
