Cal Poly San Luis Obispo has a vey nice 6-year program. That and math frightened me away form it. Hope he likes school...

Edit: sorry, man, I know this must be extraordinarily frustrating for you on a level I can't even comprehend, but I couldn't resist.

lol, i figured i'd get something like that as a response.

I'd rather have him be an architect than a drafter.

That is where I don't think he quite gets it. Start trying now, or you will never make it in college.

I got rid of my Fakebook account so I can't see her anymore :(

She wanted to get together a while ago and I said I couldn't. Stupid morals. I have no issues dating a woman when she's engaged but marrfied with kids is just messed up.

I bet you read the obituary's

LOL.... good luck with that. Guess he has no clue that field was decimated before the housing bubble and economy collapsed. Even to this day the firms are 1/2 of what they were. When the economy hits the shitter they are the first to go by by.

Worst job ever + they work you to death until you "make it" wich rarely ever happens. Making it in architecture is the same odds of becoming a pro athlete.

meh.... the drafter would make more money and work less so...............

I see a girl from time to time who does solidworks for huge drug firms and she has been making 200k plus for a long time. I'd make her my sugar momma if she wasn't a bat shit crazy drunk.

so you want him to just draw pretty pictures with no regard for engineering...or the laws of gravity...or cost...or feasibility?

this sums it up better than I ever could:

you know architects never stop going to school too right? once you graduate you have to do internships then get your license and then you have to complete continuing education credits every year.

I guess I was under the impression that an architect had to know the engineering side of things as well, not just drawing pretty pictures.

    Learn something new everyday.

It seems kind of stupid to have someone "draw a picture" with out having to understand how it is supported.

    you a funny man.

I don't know how other school's handle it but at the university here its a glorified art degree. you have 1 math class and 1 CAD based class in a five year program. the rest of the time is spent on art history, design concepts, etc. I've worked with fresh graduates out of the local program and its painful. they have no understanding of construction, physics...some of them don't even know how to draw!

 he got you too huh?

direct quote from a graduate: ...but if we take this beam out the 'feel' of the building would change..."

me: how's that fucking building going to "feel" when it collapses? you can't take the beam out because there won't be anything to hold up the roof.

I've been working with an architect for months on the Oklahoma Memorial. Dude wants a glass cube coming out of a third story wall as an observation deck. Glass floors walls and ceilings. When I first saw the plans I told him to unprotected the structural steel layer so I could turn it on. His reply was "what steel". I gasped and forwarded him to Larson structural engineers. Now there's over six figures in steel lol

    what memorial?

yeah...scary. architects come up with the idea, drafters put it on paper and engineers make it work. i think the worst I've ever worked with (aside from the one who wanted to get rid of the roof support beams) was a guy who wanted to build a house modeled after a sailboat sail. three story tall wall that was triangular in shape and curved like a sphere. he was all excited and sent me his CAD file so I could use it to draw from. he drew everything on one layer in 2d. i couldn't tell what anything was and told him he needed to do better then that. ....not sure that house ever got built

in other news: i'm working on a project that has blueprints. honest to goodness hand drawn blueprints. didn't think anyone even did that anymore...this guy is old, old school.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
Insurance claim is started. Now I just need to make a full list of stuff.

Lisa, the receptionist overheard me taking about gluten free as well and started asking me questions. She's kind of new to it and still needing info. Guess I get to email her recipes or tips and tricks.

My younger son didn't wise up until after long after he'd graduated college. He'd barely passed. Then when he lost his job (due to the economy) he went back to school and some of his grades wouldn't transfer, so he had to re-take them. That's when the light came on for him. I'd tried all kinds of stuff, but he just shut down when I mentioned them.

    Hope you have better luck.

    Not good. Sorry
