I just wanted to know how many of you think all pit-bulls are aggressive? I don't, I think that it is all based on the owner and most of the time not the dog.

Anybody who answers yes has never owned one, or known somebody who has.

If they do know somebody who has, and thinks Pits are mean, the owner is to blame, not the dog.

Any breed can be mean if the owner neglects or treats them badly.

Not at all.... It's the owners.

Pitts are loving and very very loyal if people didn't abuse them.

I think pitbull owners are bad...just like people, dogs are assholes if that's how they've learned how to act.

Exlactly what I think, I have a boxer/pit mix and when ever anyone sees her, they get scared. Then I have to re-ensure them that she wouldn't even attack a fly, maybe lick you to death but that's about it.:)

X2, Owner, not the dog. Any dog can be turned into an A-hole. I will say they are a loyal dog to their owners which can come off aggressive, but it's just the nature of the dog. Socialize them and they will be great!

My daughter and Stitch...Passed the F out! He sticks by here since day 1. Heck, before day 1. LOL

    sweetest, most loving dogs around.

My old roomate's fiance had one, so i got to spend a lot of time with it. great dog, well trained with little effort. so calm, that his fiance would always go grab random things from my room and dress the poor thing up  i think it actually liked the attention

I don't think they're bad, but I do feel that they can be less predictable then other breeds. Or, would "snap" (be aggressive) when others wouldn't.

Youll come to find when owning a pit bull is literally the scariest thing about him or her is there bark.

They are extremely caring, smart and Loving dog breed. Just as majestic as a german Shepard, As beautiful as a retriever and just as smart as both of them.

They are just EXTREMELY strong and protective. Its like the UFC fighter who beats peoples all day looks so big and scary but that dude probably cringes in real life when he smashes a spider.

It depends on the owner and how well the dog is socialized when younger imho. I've seen nice people who don't socialize their dog early, so the dog ends up being aggressive to other animals (not unique to pits, I grew up with Doberman's). I love Pits but it takes the right kind of owner.

With proper socialization and training, Pit Bulls can be great dogs! I do not believe any dog is inherently bad, the owners just have to realize that some breeds have specific needs and require extra attention in certain areas when training them. Pit Bulls, Dobermans, Rottys, etc, all the 'aggressive' breeds need to be well socialized because they have a tendancy to be territorial. The problem with an untrained or improperly trained Pit is they can become aggressive and, when they do, they are a very strong dog and can do a lot of damage in a hurry. Again though, I do not believe any dog breed is inherently bad, bad dogs are a direct reflection of inability or unwillingness to train by their owners.

I don't believe that they are born killers, it has to do with the owners who raise them & how they bring them up. Yes, they are VERY strong dogs & have certain traits that make them pretty vicious if made to be that way, otherwise they like any other breed can be gentle loving dogs. On a side note, my neighbors pit bull got wooped by my golden retriever last week, lol. We had our golden spayed a few weeks ago and had to take her out to go to the bathroom & the neighbors dog just happened to be out in the front yard that night so they got into it, our dog got a minor scratch to the ear & the pit bull got a gash on it's head, lol. Proud of our dog for protecting our kids! :)

Never blame the dog, blame the owner.

That said, Chow's are really the only breed I find hard to read. Most tend to stick to their owners an aren't much a fan of strangers.

ANY dog can be aggressive. it how the owner trains/treats the dog. My friend has 2 pits and has a 5 month old. No issues and those dogs will lick you to death before they even think about hurting you. On the other hand, a neighbor of mine has a little chihuahua that bites at your heels and is aggressive all of the time (i hate the little bastard).

I just read an article the other day saying that pits are becoming one of the most sought out family dogs.

I should also mention I have a pit mix back home and she is the most loving dog I have owned. We even got her from a rescue (as we do with all our dogs). She is wicked smart and boy does she love attention. She knows how to get the food crates open, unlocked her cage whenever we had to leave while we crate trained her just to find the other dogs or one of us.

I just hear too many stories of a pit mauling a little kid or other dog and the owner saying he never should aggression before. You don't hear of other breed doing that very often..
