Another Battery thread...

My 2008 V6 DC with tow package has the 27F size battery in it, which today suddenly died - not bad for an original battery at almost six years.

This truck does see occasional off road use and its associated impacts and vibrations at places where battery failure would be extra inconvenient.

Given this I am prepared to pay up for an AGM battery, but preferably without giving up the RC and CCA of the OEM size 27F.

I have my eye on the Diehard Platinum AGM series, but they dont make a 27F. So if I stick with the Platinum its got to be a size 35, with its reduced CCA and RC when compared with the 27F.

I wish the Diehard Plantinum 65 would fit, and it would except for the reversed positions of the terminals. And I dont want to modify cable lengths.

Anyone using a Diehard Platinum size 35 as replacement for the 27F?

I read about too many unhappy customers when it comes to Optima which it why I am passing on this brand.

Any suggestions?

 

You got more life out of one battery than we did 3. My 2011 Tacoma lasted 2 yrs, got replaced under warranty. Wife's 2011 Accord lasted 2 yrs, replaced under warranty. Step daughters car with an 85 month battery 36 month replacement lasted 2 yrs, "twice".

 

I'm running a 27F Dies hard gold in my truck, and a oriely's gold 35 in my corolla wagon. Both made my the same company. I just wish the die hard (in the truck) had as many CCA as the original toyota one.

 

I just installed a Diehard Platinum today. Side to side it's shorter but front to back is about the same. Fits fine and this thing cranks!

FWIW this truck was purchased new in Pennsylvania and has been here ever since......nearly 6 yr battery life on oem.

Back when I lived in Texas it was 3 years between battery failures at best. Slowly approaching battery death I can handle.....sudden and unexpected is what I dont like. And it was sudden this time.

So when they say heat shorten lifespan, I can vouch for that.

My OEM battery has "failed" at the last couple of inspections but it soldiered on lasting about five and a half years. I have been having some rough starts and accessories that seemed under powered, so it was time.

 

Both my truck and my corolla died suddenly. Truck died about 3yrs ago, right after its first below freezing night here in colorado. Corolla died this weekend the day after the first below freezing night of the season, it had an Interstate. I should of checked the fluid level but I think I remember seeing that it was from 09, so 4 years is good enough for me ( I just bought the car this past summer).

 

i bought an autozone duralast platinum AGM.was shorter than the stock one and had some crappy plastic spacer.engineered the stock hold down to work.i got like 3 and a half years outta the stock one.i killed it by forgetting the key on one night.
