I posted the set up in my build if you'd like to check it out. It's "custom."

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
if you have that problem, 3m spray glue works to restick it. It is a little more permanent though

    I'll bite.

How did you do that, what's it made out of, and how can I make it?

I'm considering above the rear view, but I kinda like your idea, too.

I've used this velcro before to install a CD Changer controller to the dash like this, and it worked great for years in heat, cold, vibration, and it was much heavier than this little device. The adhesive is almost permanent, just clean the surfaces well before installation. I use a paper towel and rubbing alcohol to remove any dirt or oil (fingerpints, etc) before mounting it.

throw this in here too...new setup
    [IMG]

    FYI

    distance calibration set at .92
    285/70/17, 4.56 gears, manual, 2006 4.0L

UG speed is slightly higher still, but it's good for now. i'd rather ready high on the UG versus actual

How do you know what distance calibration to set it at?
I'm running 285/75/16s so I need to figure this out cause my speedometer says I'm going 5mph slower than I actually am, thuuuuus mainly being why I bought the UG

best way is to use a GPS...reset trip on both GPS and UG

go xxx miles. then go to vehicle setup>distance calibration. adjust the distance traveled to GPS actual miles. this will adjust your speed, mpg, anything distance dependent to actual (on the UG only, will not effect factory components)

another way would be to head to a highway where they have mile markers...reset the UG trip at a mile marker, go xxx miles, stop and calibrate to actual

or if you know the ratio of actual versus what your truck is showing, you can just adjust the mileage on the distance calibration to match up with your ratio and that'll get you close...then fine tune

My view of it (there's a glare cause I didn't peel the plastic screen coating yet):
