33" tires on a stock truck?

so I want to get new tires and eventually i am planning on getting a 3" lift with 33's so i was just wondering what it would look like with the tires and not the lift and if i would have to trim anything. please post pics and advice thanks in advance.

If you are going to lift- I'd get the lift first and stick with the current tires- Unless they are worn out or damaged or whatever.
It'll cost you less to get the lift and then get the tires you really want than to get new tires now and then the lift and then new tires again.

two questions.. first about how much does it cost to get a suspension lift installed? and second wouldn't it look a little funny with stock tires with a 3" lift??

 

Two answers for you. Depends on what kind of 3" lift you want installed and yes, it will look kind of funny with stock tires but not to bad.

ok... how bout a toytec... i don't know a whole lot about lifts and i know there are tons of threads out there but i just don't wanna look through them all. i just want a rough idea what i will be spending, say a mid-range price.

 

You are in for over a grand if you want a suspension lift with adjustable coilovers or complete spring/shock replacements (like the OME set up)

If you want just the bilstein 5100s- A few 100 for parts and a could 100 more for install.

What is your goal for lifting?? Just to fit the bigger tires and look badass?? Offroading every weekend??

 

well i def want the look and i would like to off road occasionally but not every weekend... but if i just get 5100 don't i need new coilovers also? and for the rear i could just get an aal right?

 

for the rear you would need an AAL but you would also need new shocks in the back because the stock shocks do not extend enough. And 5100's and coilovers are two different things. the 5100's are just the shock part, the people that install them would set the fronts to say 2.5" and have to take off the springs from your original shocks and put them on the 5100's before install. If you were to get coilovers they would replace the whole thing, new shock and springs, nothing from the old suspension would be used.

 

ahhhh i see.. so for a really basic lift i could just get an AAL and 5100's in the front and i would be set?

It's around 300 shipped for the 5100s all the way around (front and back)...and all the parts either come with them or can be reused from the stock stuff. And yes....Several AAL choices: Toytec single, Wheelers 3 Pack...both have made folks happen

 

well this is pretty exciting looks like i might be getting a lift a little sooner then i thought . so im looking at what around $500 for the parts and a couple hundred more for the install?

 

I would think that is a pretty reasonable expectation....and if you are mildly mechanically inclined- You can knock that labor charge down pretty easy. Check out Downsouth Motorsports for the 5100's and Toytec or WheelersOffroad.com for the AALs.

The shocks in the rear aren't hard- The AAL requires jackstands and a floor jack with the right tools. The fronts take some work...but still aren't horrible...if you have the confidence to do it..and some mechanical skills.
