true, but we dont even operate on the same frequencies that most amateur users are on. I guarantee you that the frequencies we use are only po'dunk off road racers and chase/pit crew.

We got brennan's (Taqoma) to work with a CB coax, but you need to have a proper HAM antenna.

out of the box, your radio may be limited to between 144 - 148 mhz. We tend to operate above the 150 channels. You might need to do a mod to your radio to be able to communicate with us. Try this. Tune your radio to 153.110 and transmit. Does it give you an error?

Tell me about the "camping pass". Do we need it? Where do we acquire this? I want to head to Glamis (from Phoenix) on Thursday, departing about noon on Saturday.

Who has a 2 Meter radios in a trucks going to Glamis for this trek? I have a Technician License but do not have a radio in the Tacoma yet. That Kenwood and or the Yaesu at under $150 are good rigs at nice price.

No, wrong frequency. CB is 27 Mhz, Ham mobiles are usually (but not always) VHF (144 to 170 Mhz) or the UHF band (440 Mhz). These radios might receive a bit on a CB antenna, but to transmit would likely damage the radio.
