    You do know you can wash a tent right? If I hadn't washed my Eureka every season I would die in there. I use dish soap. Disinfects and smells great :)

    It smelled like North Face 4-season AWESOME! Not like you would know.
    The four season was kinda heavy for what you would want on those trips I think. I think at least 7 lbs with rainfly.

    one big rule to camping in bear country is that there is to be no food, no cooking, no soaps, toiletries, etc in or around your sleeping area. anything scented stays far away from your tent.

    and I gave the tent to another TWer who needed it. he got some use out of it this summer and doesn't seem to mind the smell of Dick embedded in the fabric...so its win win for everyone.

    On the JMT (or anywhere in the Sierra), it sucked when we got all settled in for the cold night and then found a Burt's beeswax or toothpaste in a pocket. Shit. Get dressed, shoes on, go find the bear can...

    its no fun climbing down a ladder in the cold either :laugh: the first few trips of hte year are always rough, then you settle back into a routine a little bit.

    no...I think CVT has an exchange/upgrade program :cool:

    The bigger question is what was Scott doing in there. I only used the tent once and it was too cold for any funny business.
