Would you consider my truck rare?

My '01 has leather I guess the wheel&shifter but that's it. Almost not even worth saying it has leather lol-did they kill the leather for '02 ltd's?

 

I know someone who has worked at Toyota for 15 years and used to do special orders for customers. He said that any 1st gen that had leather was a dealer installed option because leather seats were never available as an option from the factory.

 

Yes they were available with leather, and a moon roof, I test drove one. 2001 Limited.

 

Are you sure about that? Forgive me if I am wrong but wouldn't the 96-98 Limited 4Runners have the "J" case?

EDIT: I recently ran across a 1996 Limited in a salvage yard with an electronic transfer case.

 

Rare in cars is a loaded term. You can load up a lower model with so many options it has everything the next model starts with and vice versa. All i know is i have documented proof that mine is unique.

 

If you keep it long enough, it WILL be rare! After all they don't make them anymore.

 

For the record - my 02 DC limited 4x4 has an auto t-case wit ZERO leather

 

lol. um, you own a tacoma, there is nothing unique or rare about that. there are over a million first gen tacos out there lol

OP, what does it matter if its rare? you trying to upsale your tacoma?

for the record, my 03 taco double cab has cloth seats, a little button to make it go into 4wd (kinda a lame setup) and manual hubs

 

No the rare ones are the double cabs with a 4 cylinder.

 

Haha I was just thinking this yesterday when I happened to see one. I recall seeing just two of these in my life.

 

No 1st gen Tacoma has ever been offered from the Toyota factory with leather. It was a dealer option.

moonroofs were only pop-ups. If your truck has a power moonroof, it was dealer installed, too. (at least for the 98-00 years)

The limited packages had the 4runner sport seats with different fabric from the sr5 and power mirrors. The power mirrors are chrome. Those are the two easiest ways to identify a limited.

I am not sure, but the limiteds also may have been the only way to get the rear view mirrors with the map lights.

 

My guess is a Limted Taco with manual TC is lower production but not considered rare.

MY 02 4sp AOD TRD is manual case.
I had an 02 5spd TRD with Auto TC, go figure...
