Can't decide on a new set of tires...

    I had BFG all terrain and my boss has m/s2 on his landrover and he says his m/s2 are too good.. he wants a more aggressive tire and he says that even off-roadin they don't wear quicker.. so it seems if you want a long lasting tire ... I would recommend m/s2

    For a daily driver, I would get the Michelins. I have had both the LTX M/S (Ford Escape AWD) and the AT2 ('05 Tundra 4x4) and found them both adequate in light snow and slush. The AT2 is much better on muddy dirt roads. No higher than Load Range C in whichever tire you choose. "P" tires will give you the best MPG and ride comfort on pavement. I just installed a set of Wrangler Silent Armors for the same purpose.

    + 1 They are a heavy tire. My son has them on his full size Chevy.

    I agree.

    The BFGs are effective in deep wet snow, but on ice or plowed roads they pretty much suck. At least that's been my observation with my son's truck before he swaps out to his winter tires (Hankook Ipikes); or when he changes back to the BFGs in Spring and we get one of those late season snows. FWIW.

    I'm running Wrangler Silent Armors for my "Summer Tires". End of second Summer on them and they are performing and wearing very well. Will be swapping over to my Blizzaks in the next couple of weeks. Just felt it worth mentioning since you just installed yours. :cool:

    I waffled for a while between the Silent Armor and the Blizzaks. In the end, I got the Silent Armor for the all season rubber and heavy snow rating in the same tire. This leaves room in my garage for a much better (than the Grandtrek AT-20) summer street tire, on a set of alloy wheels that I hope to find before next summer. I can always swap back to the Silent Armors for off-road summer use. That's the theory, anyhow...

    Makes sense. I ended up with the Wrangler Silent Armors in a "LT" mainly because my big concern was cutting a tire down on the gravel roads during hunting season. I've had 3 friends cut "P" rated tires on the Denali Hwy. Additionally the tread pattern has performed well the few times I've run them on the beach. Final factor was my wife wanted me to buy from Sears to use up some Points we had built up on Sears MC. They fit my requirements the best from what Sears had available at the time.

    Just wanted you to know I've run them for two seasons now and they've done well by me. :cool:

    X2 on the Michelin AT2:thumbsup: best look,performance for your truck and perfect for your needs. Only use the BFG TKOs if your running the Baja 500 everyday,not likely,the weight and ride of the BFGs suck and will destroy your MPGs.

    I've had both the m/s2 and the BFG all terrains on the same truck in the same size. For 90% street and 10% groomed dirt roads, the m/s2 were much better. Quieter, slightly better mileage and lasted longer. I'd recommend the Michelin A/T2 if you want to go slightly more offroad. I've never used them myself but I haven't talked to anybody whose had them and disliked them.

    I have experience with both. On my work truck, the front tires are MS/2's, and they perform well in snow. They are a decent tire in all conditions, and they've lasted around 10k km's so far with decent wear.

    On my truck, I had BFG AT's as my last tire. I had them in LT because I was thinking I would off road a bit. Turns out I didn't do much off roading, and the BFG's were netting me around 16 MPG. They were a 265/75r16 and were a heavy tire as well. In snow on the streets, they performed great, but when plowed and icy, they were just okay. And because they were LT tires, the ride was pretty rough. They did last me around 85k km's though.

    I just put new tires on, and went with Bridgestone Dueler AT revos' in a 265/70r16 p rated tire. The ride is quieter, the tire looks good, which was important to me, and it performs well in the rain and sun. Haven't seen any snow yet, but from reading on the forums, they perform well in snow and ice too. They are available at costco, and it cost me 919.50 all in, including getting the little service packs on the TPMS sensors, where they replace the o-rings, cap, and seals for 2 bucks a piece.

    I'm seeing a lot of talk about LT and P rated tires that I'm not up to date on...

    I just googled it and I think given my driving situations I'd be looking at a P rated tire?

    EDIT: I think the deadline for my decission is Oct.16/2013 (Wednesday).

    Thanks. I hope they live up to my expectations. I haven't tried a set of Wranglers of any type for almost 30 years. I had some on a '77 K5 Blazer in the early '80s and was very disappointed. The military versions of them do very well on HMMWVs. They take a real beating.

    "P" tires are standard load tires for passenger cars. They have thinner sidewalls for a more comfortable ride. LT tires are for Light Trucks mostly up to one ton. They can carry heavier loads, and are available in several load rating classes. They have heavier duty, stiffer sidewalls to carry the extra load, which makes them tougher in rough terrain, especially in sharp rocks and (believe it or not) sharp sticks. Toyota specs the P tires for Tacomas, but many of the off-road guys want the tougher sidewalls. The LT tires weigh more, have a harsher ride, and cause the truck to burn more fuel. Everything is a trade-off. I use the P tires for everyday driving.

    My dad just got a set of Firestone Destination LE2 for $512 installed w lifetime balance and rotation. They have great reviews on tire rack. Just a thought. Otherwise id vote michelins.

    Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.

    Had the Revo's on my 2007....excellent tire in all conditions and still had 70% tread after 40k miles!

    Current tires are Goodyear Duratracs. I prefer them over the BFG ATs

    Amazing tires! I love mine so much. Hardly no road noise. Good mpg's. Semi aggressive look. Wonderful in the rain. Decent in snow but mine will be better this winter now that i got them siped.
