My .02 cents
My oldest son went through the same thing. When he and his girl of two years broke up he was devastated. He was so sure she was the one. A year later he met a wonderful girl and moved to Texas. I told him about this Garth Brooks song "Unanswered Prayers."

"She was the one that I'd wanted for all times
And each night I'd spend praying' that God would make her mine
And if he'd only grant me this wish I wished back then
I'd never ask for anything again
Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers

That just because he doesn't answer doesn't mean he don't care

He blew me off at the time, but now looking back that song was so true. He is now happily married and living in Texas, he married the love of his life. He has a successful carrier as a school teacher as is his wife . The Lord answered those prayers he was praying at the time, just not the answer he was looking for. Had those prayers been answered the way he wanted he would have missed the plan God had for him. I have talked with my son about this. My son always believed in Jesus and the Bible, he really turned his focus to his walk with the Lord after the breakup, he did it to fill the void. Had the prayer been answered the way "he" wanted, he would have missed what I believe was God's plan for him. He met his now wife in a Christian chat room, he would have missed this. He found his calling in teaching, he teaches fifth grade, he is credentialed to teach Autistic children and works at his church in the daycare during services on Sunday, he would have missed these also. He has always loved fishing and hunting, his father-in-law shares the same passion with him, he would have missed this. These are only a few of the things he and we would have missed.
Believe in God or not, for each door that is closed another door is opened.
As much as it hurts right now, it will get better, again, for every door that is closed, another is opened, you just have to walk through it.

 

Ah, to be 16 again...when everything that could go wrong, did. And when every relationship ruined life...

Lents, you need to build up a callous around your heart, dude. It doesn't matter how much you like or love someone, they're gonna do whatever they want...especially at 16. You're going to have many a girl break your heart, but dwelling on it ain't healthy. I'm not sure of your mental state, but I'll tell you the story of my mental state at 16;

I fell in love with the first girl I ever slept with. I was 16 at the time, and we were together for just about 18 months. She was the one, I knew it. Then one day, she said we needed to split up. I was wrecked. I didn't know which way was up, or even who to talk to. Thoughts of suicide crossed my mind because where else would I find such a perfect girl (sarcasm)? I got stuck thinking about her night and day. One day I took a blade and decided that without her, I had nothing. Lucky for me, my dad took off work early and came home before too much damage was done. I spent the next 2 years in therapy, and on mood-altering drugs before I realized that I was in control of how happy or sad I was. There isn't one person out there who can force you to be sad. There isn't one person out there who can tell you what to think about. You're in control of your own head and heart.

Like I said, I'm not sure of your mental state, but I hope for your sake that it's better than mine at 16. I just wanted to show you one extreme case.

I know you like her, but you need to just blow her off for awhile. Let her make bad choices. Mistakes need to be part of her life as much as they need to be part of yours. Go out and live life, Lents! Don't sit and let other experiences pass you by while you try to "save" one girl!

Good luck with this though, I know it's tough, but you'll make it.

Agreed! If she doesn't want you, too bad move on. There is very little you can do about it. And you say she means so much to you, did she say the same thing to you? I know she seems like she is very special but you'll find plenty of other @ss out there.

UPDATE:

I got off the phone with her...... she told me her past.... Shes right there is no way I could pick up that responsiblity. Shes had a rough past and it seems that her boyfriend is the only one that makes it right.

I told her though. That no matter what happens Ill be here for you and that I dont think differently of you (after what she told me). I still think of you the same way. and I will still care for you and respect you.

You have a long life ahead of you. At your age, try not to get too caught up in writing your own future. It will only end up burning valuable time that you will never get back.

 

Rape and sexual abuse are rough as well as mental abuse. Thus in my book qualifying as a rough past. I have dated women with these past, if this is her past then you may be getting off lucky. Its a very difficult road.

 

05-06:

Her dad died from Cancer. But came back to life with a simple prayer and a needle to the arm... She had cancer on her lungs.... almost didnt make it though surgery
Her brother got a girl pregnant-- They are married.
07:

She had one drink at a bar and a drunky raped her-
On Christmas day she found out she was pregnant--had an abortion.

Her best friend died on her birthday.
