    Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this site and looking for help. I bought a new 2013 tacoma sr5 access cab v6 manual this past may. Currently there is 9000km on the truck. Today I went out to go to work and the truck would start for about 2 seconds then power down. It won't stay running just cuts out. This is the first issue i've had with the truck, and I live in Northern Canada so going to the dealer isn't an option (only as a very last resort). Has anyone else experienced similar things?

    Help please:confused:

How does your oil look? Are there any light on the dashboard like oil light? Check engine?

Fixed, no need for language. I've experienced this in my 11 and 13, if you turn the key to start it, after the engine is running and you just let go of the key - it whips back and kills the engine.

Maybe you haven't looked at an atlas in a while. He says he's in northern Canada, he could be several thousand miles from the nearest dealer. Sometimes, it's not that simple.

Op, I would question the gas as well, maybe you got some bad gas. Also, does your truck has any type of alarm? It may be malfunctioning and cutting off the fuel supply.

My first thought was bad gas.

    Hi guys,

I'm approx 600km from the nearest dealer so no it's not that simple.

I got gas about 5-6 days ago and i've burned about 1/3 of a tank since. Using all factory keys. No added alarm systems added. No dash lights.

I just tried it again and the same thing. I did notice that my mileage isn't showing on the odometer when the key is in the on position. The radio and 9v outlets are all working. My first thought was alternator but the stereo working confuses me on that. Today is thanksgiving in Canada so no local garages are open.

I guess I will be calling toyota canada tomorrow.

I know you said no added alarm, but do you have a remote starter installed? Sometimes (if not installed correctly or with faulty bypass units) the vehicle is not getting the correct resistance reading from the key, this will cause the vehicles security to trip and not allow the vehicle to start. If you do have a remote start, try starting it with the remote.

Check all the Ign fuses too- behind the change drawer in the dash to the left of the steering column. I'm suspect of that remote starter from your comment though.

No luck with the battery being unhooked.

By not working well i mean it didn't work when I first got the truck. After a trouble shooting session with the dealer it worked for a short period. Now it has since stopped working. I suspect they either didn't set it up right which is now setting of security and disabling the truck...

Road side assistance is coming to get the truck now and bring it to a local garage.

MY 2011 does that sometimes. I just turn the ignition and let it stay in "on" until the warning lights go away. Then I start it. Check Batt Voltage. I have had mine cut out also when voltage was low
