2013 Multimedia OEM Bluetooth Radio 07-13

You are looking at a brand new touchscreen multi-media OEM Bluetooth radio. It is a full touch screen radio. It should be capable of adapting to any Tacoma from 07. It has all the traditional plugs. (see pics) Should fit in the earlier year dash's. It was removed from a brand new 2013. It comes exactly as you see in the pics.

Will this work with the back up camera and could I make it work with a 2005 taco.

 

That question I cannot answer. I know it has the same plugs dating back since 2000. From the power plug, speaker plug, SWC plug. You would probably have to use a reverse antenna adapter to get the antenna to work. Any back up camera will work you just need to print out the pin out of the plug and hardwire it in. I think the dash pretty much the same but not sure.

 

That is not necessarily true. There are two model numbers for the 2012+ Radios. One will show the video feed through the deck and the other will only show the video through the rearview mirror screen.

Im pretty sure the rear view mirror is an option for the camera. I dont believe they would have made 2 different radios for the camera option. That does not make any sense. Im sure if you give the radio the camera video + / - and the reverse input, it would display on the screen. (If you had the mirror option, I bet you could hardwire the camera +/- and reverse input to get it to display on the radio)

 

I used a reverse Metra harness (standard Toyota plug since 88) and a 12v drill battery.

 

It may not make sense to you but from what is sounds like (and the fact that this is your only post on this forum) I would assume you don't know much about the topic. Most of the tacomas that I have seen with rear view cameras ONLY show them in the mirror and not in the deck.

It's not just about the head unit. Toyota has two different model cameras and two different model decks.

I know all of this because I have a 2013 touch screen in my 2008 and I have been doing all of the wiring to make blutooth work and trying to get the rear view camera to work. You have to have the appropriate camera with the appropriate deck to make it work.

 

What's the point of the double thread. And curious as well to see powered up. How did you connect the wiring harness to the radio?

 

As for the double thread...it is listed in the overall classified forum and than in the more specific 2nd gen forum. As for how it is powered up I used a reverse Metra Toyota harness with a 12v drill battery. As for the wiring, ALL-DATA shows rear view camera wiring to the radio on every trim of the Tacoma.

 

Yes, becasue either way the deck will have to process the data from the camera before transmitting it to the rear view mirror screen or the screen on the deck.

I got my information directly from the parts section at Toyota, not all-data.

 

I understand...I have been in the car audio business for 20 years. I have learned the opposite. Not to go off the dealer but go off schematics. Most of the time the dealer wants to sell a certain part or say it does not work, when in reality you can hardwire directly to the radio itself. For something as simple as a camera, all it takes is a 12v reverse trigger to turn on the video input of the radio. The camera on the newer Toyota are a 6v camera. They would not make 2 different radios for camera or no camera (financially it would make no sense when it could be turned on with a DC trigger) Now the other radio most likely im guessing is JBL or a low voltage audio output radio opposed to a internal amp hi voltage audio output. Just food for thought. Not discounting any research you have done.

 

Now im sure they would make two different camera for the radio and rear view....that makes sense considering one might use a mirror image or a different voltage.

Yes it is still available. Pepsi may be able to chime in on fitment for that year.

 

I totally agree with you. If you know how to do certain things you can basically do anything that you would need. I was only really refering to the plug'n'play parts that are available.

I am pretty sure it will. I am 90% sure they did not change anything on the OEM decks between 05-08. The deck is a direct plug and play for most things but you will need an antenna adapter to make the am/fm stations work properly. You will need to get these item to make calls from bluetooth (you can stream BT music without it):

It will kind of fit. What I mean by "kind of" is the mounting brackets on the bottom of the stereo (Where the 4 bolts go) will line up perfect but the top of the stereo wont push in the whole way so basically you'll have about a 1/4" gap at the top of the stereo. They flattened out the dash a little for the 2012 and up models.

Same issue with the Alpine perfect fit kits for the INE-Z928HD headunit.

You are correct but I have had person after person say they didn't even realize it was like that until I mentioned it because there isn't a gap as much as it sticks out 1/4".

Maybe I would have to change/modify the mounting brackets, probability cut the 1/4" and then weld.
