    +1 I have them on my taco and they are amazing in the rain, they move water like no other tyre I've used, have not tried them in the snow yet, you have any pics of your tyres after having them siped?

    LT come in 6ply (C), 8 ply (D), 10 ply (E), and 12 ((F)I think)

    P is 4 ply

    Load rating is higher for the higher #'s of ply's; but... gas mileage suffers.

    Personally I don't like the ride of the 4 ply P tires - cornering feels spongy for lack of a better word. (I have a used set of 4 ply 265/70/16's on right now - the price was right FREE!!:D). At the same time 10 ply's are stiff and you feel ALL the road roughness. I have had 10 ply Hancooks 235/85/16's on for the last two winters.

    For DD with a chance of offroad/load carrying I would recommend 6 ply - the tire weight is slightly more than P rated tires but only slightly. Gas mileage shouldn't vary much. They should be tougher; but I have jammed almost everything imaginable thru 10 ply's so I don't know if it really matters for puncture resistance when unloaded. When you are loaded and offroad, 10 ply is the way to go.

    You will hate bfgs on water and snow. They load up in the rain big time snd only last 35k mikes. Get the ltx ms2, that tire suits exactly what you are lookin for. Also don't be fooled the ltx ms2 is an awesome tire on and off road.

    i actually really liked my bfg a/t in the snow. The bfg branded ones lasted me 50k and the treadwright ones i ran last lasted 55k of torture.

    I dont know about the other tires in question never had them.

    BFG A/T would be my #1 tire if i planned to drive on the road with a chance of wheeling.

    I have treadwright gaurd dogs now because they are better offroad, and pulling the trailer, or in the snow on the roads etc i miss the BFG A/T

    I have the Firestone Destination AT's. I like them a lot. I have driven in bad rain and a Blizzard. They also react well in sand. I've never been in mud though. My MPG took a 1-2 MPG hit when I sized up and changed from the stock AT20's (those were so lame)

    For what it's worth, I have Cooper Discoverer AT3 255/75/17 on a stock truck at the moment with no problems. I purchased them from Tread Depot, $828 after shipping for 5 tires, and have a $80 mail in rebate. $150 per tire for a nice AT tread, not too shabby.

    Factors that went into my purchase:
    Light offroading (90% time on paved roads, only 1 weekend a month spent in 4low)
    Millage warranty (55k)
    Winter driving w/ 150"+ snow, sleet, ice, freezing rain(November-April)

    As for 17" wheels, it's what I had stock. Having said that, 16" is the way to go for the best selection of tires. 17" suck to be honest, and typically are more expensive for the similarly sized tire in 16"

    Michelins hands down are the better tire for your conditions. I have used both, and they're really not comparable, the michelins outshine in 99% of conditions you'll be using them. The m/s have gone over 100,000 miles on these toyotas, I personally got 80,000 miles on a one ton Ford Powerstroke. Do a search and you'll find people that get 125,000 miles out of the michelins, they have a cult following practically.

    I agree with a lot of people on here instead of the MS2 i would look at the AT2 from Michelin. It is kind of a compromise between both tires and it offers really good snow/ice and water traction (which I would assume is important to you). I originally but Bridgestone Dueler AT s on my truck and liked them a lot but they didn't last very long. I then had BFG All Terrains which were very good off road but on road traction was not very good especially on ice or wet roads. Also they were loud and didn't give a very compliant ride.

    When I was looking around for new tires I was also test driving some Luxury SUVs with my parents (looking for a new car). I was amazed how great the ride was with Michelin tires specifically the Latitude X

    Anyway I decided to give Michelin's a try on my truck and love them. The ride is super smooth and the grip is phenomenal. The AT2s are quite good off-road for Jeep roads and less aggressive stuff.

    I had Dunlops radial Rovers AT before and they are a great tire and they will be the next ones i put on my truck when my Bridgestones are done... Plus i make them at the plant ...and get a small discount.. But still a great all terrain tire..... I did have Mud Rovers on my Nissan Pathfinder ....Road vibrations was loud but never got stuck in any mud or snow...

    I was in the same boat with similar pros and cons. In the end I went with the michelins. I chose them because of how they rode on the hwy, gas mileage (weight of tire and tread design) as well as traction on road. I have a 4x4 so they would suit me well in snow when I head up to the mountains. My experience of the BFGs from a friends truck is that they sway more than the Michelins and wouldn't give me the handling I was looking for. They are both heavier than stock so your mpg will suffer a bit.

    I was in a similar boat as you, and really looked hard at the M/S2 tire. I ultimately got Hankook Dynapro ATM and love this tire. I drive some off road but not aggressive. Do plenty of fire roads and interesting boat launches, so I wanted something with good road wear, quiet, and some grip power. Also I think they look great.

    Having BFG K/O before, I actually prefer the Hankook's.
