Actually, now I can't decide between a DJI F450 or the Tarot 650. I like how the Tarot folds, but the DJI would probably hold up better in a crash and it is a little cheaper to get flying. Right now it will just be used for sport flying. I might get into aerial photography later. Which do you guys think would be the better first quadcopter?

No experience personally with the 650... But this 810s quality is very nice. The dji stuff 450, 550 have very flexy arms which are hard to isolate from vibes. These vibes can cause Jello on a Gopro which leads to wavy video products.

So I got a pretty stacked FPV setup from Mike last week, and over the weekend i installed the quad side of things and tweaked around the physical setup of the viewing station. been real windy and/or raining ever since i got it set up, but hoping to try it out this evening, after work.

Had to get an adapter for the video feed
    [IMG]

took the bottom cover apart and managed to fit all of the power supply options into the casing. now i just pull on the cord/s i need and plug them in. I even set it up so that there is room to fit the battery inside the case as well if i want to.

also managed to get some of the components to fit nicely under the voltage display. now i just need to make a little acrylic or aluminum cover for it.
battery in the picture is actually the one that goes on the phantom. just using it here for display. I got a larger battery for the viewing station. actually got another phantom battery, so if i don't want to fly FPV, i can just have another 10 minutes of flying the phantom without :)

for the transmitter on the quad itself, i'd seen too many people just slap it on top or bottom with some 3m tape, velcro, or zip ties. little bit of imagination, and the use of a coax on the viewing station that wasn't being used, and i was able to secure the transmitter inside the shell, with a nice sold hookup for the antenna
    [IMG]

the angle keeps the antenna out of harms way from the propellers, as well as the ground when landing
    [IMG]

the power and go-pro cords retract into the body of the phantom, and pull out for use, with plenty of length. wrapped the power cord inder one of the arms to avoid potential tangles
    [IMG]

there's still extra length in the gopro cord for when i get a gimbal
    [IMG]

Only thing left to do for FPV is test out how long the 1100 mah battery can supply the transmitter on the phantom. If it has more than enough run-time, i'm going to get a smaller one that i can conseal inside of the body with the rest of the electronics.

which one did you go with?

get a lot of batteries. I have 4, and am still going to buy more (especially at $5 a pop), because i could sit in the hotel all day flying the mini and still not be bored.
