What do you mean Toytec sent you the wrong ball joints ? The UCA's come with them already

Checked and double checked the part number on the box, it is correct. I emailed Toytec and they told me to check the number stamped on the ball joint itself and it turns out that it is the wrong part number. They said that they would ship me the correct ball joints.

The ball joint assembly is adjustable for caster, so you can unscrew the nut on top and pull it off.

So you're saying the vendor adds the ball joint to the LR / SPC UCA's prior to shipping them ?

I think I would have ordered from wheelers, personally. Much cheaper, they even have a camburg set for 379 that reuses your factory ball joints.

Hell if I know how their operation works. I got a box with a pair of UCAs, a pair of ball joints, and a bushing sleeve kit in it. Somewhere along the line the wrong ball joints got thrown in the mix. One way or another, Toytec sent me the wrong parts, whether or not it is their fault.

Does that mean the vibration I'm feeling my wallet complaining?

Satoshi'd grill. blacked out badges. aftermarket sound system. De-chromed and color matched. OME 885s + Dakars with 3rd leaf removed. LR UCAs. Scs stealth 6 with 285 duratracs. BAMF sliders
You can find LR UCAs for less than that. Plus they allow for alignment adjustments, and the balljoint allows for 20* more articulation than stock balljoints.

so thier balljoint allows for easier and more option on alligment but wont most aftermarket balljoints? Most of the UCA sellers dont list what kind or brand of balljoints they use.
I thought they were pretty much the same until you went with uni-ball?

what i found intresting on Wheelers site is the camburg that reuses stock is 379 but the kit with Moog ball joints is 529, and Moog ball joints are 29 dollars a piece. thats a huge profit just to install 2 balljoints.

The LR UCA's allow for adjustment to caster as well as camber in the UCA

Its my understanding that Camburg does not recommend the use of moog ball joints. Apparently they have had fitment issues in the past with the moogs. The fitment issue is likely due, at least this is what I have read, to the manufacturers tolerances; not as tight as factory.

Just throwing this out there

Its not the balljoint itself that allows for adjustment, its the design of the UCA, it allows the balljoint to be mounted in different orientations to the tubular part of the UCAs if that makes sense.

that helps, the stock ball joint will work for me so i'll proably get the camburg kit, i have a prerunner and dont need a MT or LT truck, i'll only be playing on the beach and in the sand occasionally.

My lift finally goes on Thursday, I cant wait! I just sucked it up and am paying a shop to install it, i dont have time.

:goingcrazy: If you plan it all out properly you can do it in a day (a long day) with the help of one other person. Save some serious green.

my brother was supposed to help but bailed and no torque wrench, i got called into work anyways thursday so 8 hours of OT will almost pay for it, just drop it off and let the shop install it. And its a reputable shop with a warrenty on the labor.

I hear ya. Sometimes it just has to get done.

You know, the other part of tackling work like this yourself is it's a good excuse to start filling up the toolbox. In time you'll never pay labor charges again.

I bought a torque wrench from HF for $70 I think, 1/2" drive and goes to 150 ft lbs, I calibrate it myself monthly and hasn't let me down yet. Just an FYI and not related to anything :p

I've got the 1/2" top plate spacers on 886s, and have found myself scrambling to get new UCAs now that the coil is hitting the oem UCA.

Some guys couldn't get a good alignment, and had to pick up UCAs. It's case by case. I hope yours works out.

And you may or may not even need the 1/4" spacer. Once it's installed and given some time to settle you'll know for sure. The spacer is really easy to add or remove at home.
