Gas light on - How many miles

    So I ran low on fuel in my 2013 DCSB V6 and the low fuel light just came on. How many miles until empty? When does the light come on? With 1 gallon left? With 2 gallons left?

    Curious so I know before I run out!:confused:

    So you've run out of gas to find out for sure?

    If my light comes on I can fill to around 17.5 gallons. It's a 21 gallon tank, hence 3.5. I've filled to 20.4 once pushing it.

    Toyota says to keep the fuel pump running cool . With the fuel pump inside the tank , I never go below half a tank .With the colder months approaching , condensation also builds up inside the tank .
    Thanks for the tips though . If running back roads and the light does come on , its good to know how far we can travel without hiking

    No *way* there's a 3.5-4 gal cushion. At least on mine!

    The manual says I have an 18 gallon tank. I get the light with roughly a gallon left, or 400-425ish miles most times. And if I wait for the light to fill up, EVERY time I pump 17.something gallons. EVERY. TIME.

    And I also use Fuelly to track my mileage, so its something that would not go un-noticed.

    Not saying y'all can't be right. But *my* '08 four-banger is an 18 gallon tank with a 1 gallon light.

    The mechanics I know have all told me to never let injection intake motors run dry ever, if you can help it. I've been told that is a very bad thing for the injectors.

    Is this truth?

    If it isn't, I'll fill a gallon portable on my next fillup and drive her till she quits like I normally do and check the results.

    It is only bad to run out of gas, not bad to run it low. The gas running thru the pump cools it and lubricates it, not the gas around it.

    Don't do it. Trust the math, your tank is 21.1.

    Why , yes condensation does occur with half a tank of fuel , but far less than if we run our tank dry :D
