Any tips on separating the yoke off the shaft my puller has no where to grip
Only other option is to hook puller where u joint goes

 

Lightly using a 10 lbs sledge taping it off side to side. Or cut off the the old bearing and use the 3 jaw puller down at the base of the yoke. Not. In the u joint holes. I would be afraid of cracking them. The 10 lbs sledge worked much easier for me the first time.

 

The carrier bearing shit the bed already ? What one did you get ?

I got that skf one the first time. I didn't have good luck with it. Squealed like a pig after 3k miles. Prolly got a bad one... I have the dorman one now. 4k on now. Doing good so far.

The difference I saw between the two was that the SKF had a kind of sealed bearing races and limited ways to pack grease in. The dorman races were more open and making it easier to pack the grease in. Also the torque sequence John and Mike spoke of likely helped.

Do what I did and get a new dog! But seriously, I am coming up on 1 year in a few days and I wouldn't change a thing. She started with the baby talk before we got married (been together for 7 years prior) and once you get hitched, the talk begins to ramp up. We are at the, "if it happens, then it happens" phase and it scares the hell out of me, but exciting at the same time.

From what I hear, no one is ever ready. You just put your big boy pants on and step up to the plate.

 

Haha we almost did get another. ultimately decided against it though. The current dog is decent sized, around 100-110 lb and pretty trim. I work from Maine 3 days a week, so i wouldn't be around to help train a new dog much, and it would be difficult to walk/ go for runs with the two at the same time for the Mrs.

To get the yoke off the shaft, I held the prop shaft and hit the yoke with a sledge. Not overly hard, but it did make it slide off. I did give it a few really healthy slugs with a rubber mallet at first to start the process but once it started going, the metallic massage worked great

To get the bearing off, I used a steel punch. Just put the punch against the race and gave it a couple shots at various spots around the bearing. The thing popped right off, no puller needed.

Yep, I got a whole 300 miles out of it. I bought the Dorman bearing for $40 through Rock Auto. I debated going with the Timkin but figured if I was going to spend that much money, I'd just go OEM. If this Dorman one doesn't work, I'm going to find a servicable pillow block bearing.

OK, sounds good. I have to remember to get the filters out of my truck! I've been driving Kendra's car this week. Truck is on stands in the driveway with the drive shaft in my basement
