I have to agree with you. Sounds like a low voltage issue.

OP, as per my previous post and your response, I am leanimg towards the remote start being the culprit. If you can, get under your dash and unplug all of the connectors going into the remote starter. This will essentially be the same as having no starter installed. Then try starting your truck. I have alot of experience with these systems (installed for 6 years in a previous job) and from my experience I really am thinking its the starter.

It has to be something with the dealer installed remote start.

And nothing like ANOTHER example of dealer techs not being able to do anything right. This is why I do everything myself.

Just to update you guys, the truck still isn't going. The garage it went to was too busy to look at it yesterday. I was just speaking with the salesman that sold me the truck and he preached that they have never had any issues with those remote starters... Whether that is the truth who knows... The garage is going to unplug the system to see what happens. I have my fingers crossed...

On a side note is anyone using the remote start Gemini GSX 1001CF?

This is what has been installed on my truck, and from my experience is garbage. Not impressed at all.

I have never heard of a Gemini system. The big three in Canada are, compustar (im using this one, installed myself and have never had an issue) Titan, and autostart. Autostart actually have a number of different names but they are all same (remotes, motherboards, relays and wiring).

Get that POS firehazard out from under your dash and get something reliable in there!!

When a dealer says that they've never had any issues with it, it means that they have issues every time.

Just take everything that they say, and the opposite is true.

It's the only occupation where you're required to lie more than politicians.

The first place i would look is where the remote start gets the crank signal at.if it is a bad connection and the truck cant get a crank signal the fuel pump wont stay running but a couple seconds.

    UPDATE:

    I have the truck back.

The error was the result of poor workmanship at the dealer.

When the garage I brought it to took the dash apart the Ignition plug was hanging down. It looks like when they installed the remote start they didn't fully clip the plug back in and it slowly fell out.

Now that the truck is running again the remote start doesn't work

Waiting to hear back from the dealer on being reimbursed for the money that it cost to get the truck going again (approx $300.00 CDN).

As of Friday the dealer's "remote start guy" was out on vacation and is supposed to troubleshoot the remote starter this week. The dealer has their remote starts installed by a 3rd party... and guess what they are claiming that this third party is liable for the repairs... I got a funny feeling they won't feel the same way.

This battle is not over yet, if I don't get anywhere with it this week I'm going to Toyota Canada. As far as I'm concerned if a Toyota dealership is selling these products on new Toyota vehicles then they are ultimately responsible for backing these products. I will let you guys know where it goes from here.

At the end of the day I'm just glad to have my Taco back.

Glad you're back up and running. It looks like you're probably going to have to take it to corporate with this, but I think you should do pretty good with them.

New guy....did you actually read the whole thread before you posted? That usually helps. It was his remote starter.

    Too few to list.
From my experience, it's always the dealer installed options. Alarms, remote starts, LoJacks are always installed by a third party. Keep in mind the dealer comission these guys to do an x amount of cars and they will usually go as quickly as they can as they can have other contracts elsewhere. Unfortunately, most dealers out there contracts their new cars for some kind of alarm for their loss protection as well as profit to new car sales. LoJack is pretty good with their installation though the rest that I've seen varies. The first thing I do is check the wiring under the dash to make sure all the wiring is in order and that they didn not mess anything up since I did not buy the alarm that was pre-installed and had to deactivate.

I'm sure once you open a case with Corporate, the dealer will be more sympathetic to your issue and not have you deal with the third party as like someone else mentioned, you purchased from Toyota dealership and not the third party.

I've been guilty of that but most likely because most of us are at work and we just sneak a peak here and there...

What a big pain in the ass. Being 6 hours away from the dealership is crazy. Since that it was installed with the dealership and another business that is contracted, they should have to deal with it, not the 3rd party. The dealer would rather pass the buck then to make things right. In the end it's the dealership that sells the product, contracts the 3rd party to install it. The work invoice is from Toyota, not from the 3rd party. The dealership should take responsibility. Ha! And we all know it happened more than once, and they knew about it.

This wouldn't even be a story if he could've done that in the first place. He lives 6 hours from the dealer in northern Canada. Kind of complicates matters.

I scanned and emailed the receipts in about 15 minutes after paying the bill/getting the truck back. That was on Friday Oct 18... no response from dealer yet. I'm going to give them until the end of today before I start hassling them, followed by a call to Toyota Canada if I don't get anywhere with the dealer.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
^do you have a uhaul rental (box truck) place and a home depot (hardware store)

you can fix that dealer issue..

Just a little joke to make some happy faces
