The search function isn't working for me so I will go ahead and ask. Does a locker come in any 4x4 model? I am wanting the sport but I am positive it doesn't come in that model. That just baffles me that Toyota doesn't offer it in 4x4. I hope I am wrong. If I am right then can a ARB be installed or and other type? If so how much$$$?

A e locker comes on the offroad package. The sports have some form of LSD depending on the year

x2 You can get it with a 4x4. Just buy the trd offroad 4x4. And if you get the sport 4x4, you can switch out the lsd with a locker.

The TRD Offroad models come with the e-locker (ALL years)

The 05-08 TRD Sport models come with the mechanical LSD (LSD diff carrier).

The 09+ TRD Sport models come with and OPEN differential. They come with the AUTO LSD which is all operated via the brakes.

Some of the 05-08 non TRD models came with the mechanical LSD (it was an option).

You can install an ARB in anything. You'll have to remove the carrier out of your diff (whatever it has) to install the ARB. ARB's are expensive but well worth it if you offroad a lot. You can get an 09 TRD Sport and install an ARB locker in the rear (because, the 09 Sport has an OPEN diff). OR - get an 05-08 TRD Sport with the mechanical LSD (for snow benefits) and install an ARB in the front.

I have an 07 TRD sport and I ditched the LSD in the rear for the ARB well worth it.

I want the sport. I am going to take a guess and say it would cost 2K for parts and labor?

For an ARB? Depends on where you go to get it done. Professional install is HIGHLY recommended.

You might also have to buy gears (to fit on the ARB carrier) and you'll definately need a gear setup. Air supply & setup to operate the ARB.

What do you like about hte sport over the OR?? Might be worth doing the math to figure out what mods cost more...Adding the sport items to an OR that you like...or adding the locker to a sport...

to most it is.....cause you can still wheel the truck a bit easier that you could with just limited slip.

The RD90 and a compressor is all you need.
You don't need a gear set or a new third.

    Are you sure about that?

You are removing the carrier....to put the ARB (carrier) in. Anytime you change that, requires a gearing setup. Even if you're putting the same gears back in, you still have to setup the gears to make sure the contact patch on the gear teeth to the pinion is setup properly.

At the least you will need to change out some carrier shims, at the most, a full setup of the rear end. Gears are definitely not required for the carrier to fit.
