i totally agree with you, i always camp in wash 4, for most of the same reasons you have posted. i have never actually camped at gecko, only in the washes.

on gecko road the dunes are more strung out (yes gecko is just long and flat, but once you go back a little bit there is big longer dunes, big bowls, and you dont have to go through small choppy dunes to get there.

for what its worth i always have a blast in the washes in my 4wd, i dont have a problem. i love the washes, im just thinking about all the 2wd guys ya know...
    im fine with anything

if all the 2wd guys are down id rather camp in the washes, to me its more fun because i can throw a rock and hit dunes, and like bryan said you got olds, comp, the beach store, and the vendors all right there.
and theres like a sand highway (mixed with small dunes) that is inbetween wash 4 and 5 that goes to olds, that is fun with trucks.

yes, with my girlfriends dodge with full air pressure and stocker tires and 2wd with my yota on the trailer i can make it if i do skinny pedal down.
we can pull you out if you get stuck. if you go thursday and for some reason you get stuck im sure you would see tons of other tacos passing you and they would stop and help you out.
good part about me getting stuck is i unload the taco and pull out the truck haha.

    This^^

    oh yes it is!!!!
    me to... :pray:ing away..
thats what scares me, if everything goes smoothly my truck will be driveable saturday morning, but we know how that goes......
im praying for both our red beasts to be pounding sand

ok im down for the washes,
    can i suggest a location?
wash 4, in the back in the corner of the dunes closer to wash 5. for a few reasons-
its really close to that fun/challenging trail to olds, which makes camp easy to find in the night.
its right on the edge of the dunes
there is jumps for trucks right there too, pretty cool (some bigger rollers)
