Went to the dealership to get my truck inspected first let me say the lady who wrote my service order was very nice. Now when I made the appt. I told her I have IMO a serious vibration when taking off or accelarating hard from a slow roll on.My truck only has 5700 miles on it.I guess the guy who tried to bullshit me was or is the head service manager who said this is normal;and went on to try and explain well the drive shaft articulates and blah blah blah and it will go away when you load the bed...grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!! I told him listen asshole I'm 52 years old and owned some sort of truck since I've been 18 and NEVER EVER have I had a vibration like this or this pronounced. His answer well sorry it's just the nature of the truck. So where do I go from here?

Contact corporate maybe? :notsure: I know some people have gotten satisfaction that way with issues. Not sure for this exact issue, but other things. At the very least then you get a case #.

Hate to tell you this, but in this case I think the service guy is right.

My '09 v6 access cab 4x4 and a co-worker's '12 v6 double cab prerunner both do it.

I've learned from several frustrating service dept. visits like yours that our 2nd gen. tacos have several quirks that are labeled "nature of the beast"

What year and cab size? Have you had this vibration occurring for a while now? Name calling wasn't productive at 12 years old...

uh, I have a first gen, but the problem is the same, I fixed it for about $5.....

the center support bearing just needs some help, you need at least 24 hours to 'do' the fix...

I tried everything including a new center support bearing, it helped but it still was there, flex upon application of power is the culprit, wanking the driveshaft at the bearing...my yoke came off rather EZ, sometimes they need some pulling help, but is all can be done without removal of the front half shaft...

to fix it, just get a big tube of 100% clear silicon and have one of those pump guns ready....the next part will take awhile, but it is easy, undo four flange bolts at center support to drop rear half of driveshaft, then remove the yolk by backing off the nut, pull the yoke making note of spline positioning (must go back same way, critically important)....remove the two support bolts on the bearing, note which way it is facing so you put it in the same way....remove center support bearing....there are two holes on top of the bearing facing the bed, and a drain hole at the bottom...

ready, here we go...carefully inject approximately 6 squirts of the silicon in each hole, making sure it kinda spreads in all directions about the same...once all three are done, you must let it dry at least overnight with very slight low temp oven assist, two days au natural is best...I couldn't wait, so I did a little oven help session (low temp, 200* preheated oven, ten/20 minutes), about three hours after the initial injection so the silicon has taken a bit of a set....the sillystuff will expand when heated, but will shrink after removal and cooldown....

then reinstall the same at it was before....people will say it will cause a vibration because it really tightens the bearing from major flexing, but this is not the case if you do not inject too much silicon...

I can tell you it solved a vibration problem I have been chasing for THREE years...rides like a Cadillac now, boring in fact, the vibration kept me alert on long hauls, now bliss...

I prefer the bliss...good luck...frankly, I am surprised this repair is not mentioned more often...this works even if your bearing is used, I changed out 12 months previous, it helped, but until I did the silly cone, it still vibrated...used same bearing after 1 year of abuse...works perfect...

    peace, out...

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
when i read this the first thing i thought of was the shudder i had from the leaf packs being too soft.

then was the carrier bearing, i havent had the issue on a tacoma but i did on my old yota, i had a one piece for it so that was the solution then.

^when i did the suspension on my moms truck, i drove it before and it was way worse than mine. But it was a combo of weak leaf pack and stupid lift block in hers.

I dont think your wrong for it, its frustrating as hell dealing with dealers etc like that. Its one thing if they cant figure it out its another if they tell you your wrong.

Anyway the two issues i mentioned, along with other users is the first place i would think to check.

But since its brand new, i would try to take it to a different dealer, obviously they dont want Toyota's money to fix the problem.

I applaud calling shit shit. Vibrating, whistling, rusting frames before body does, creaking, leaking, weak leaf shit on $30k trucks IS straight up lame bullshit that is only "normal" or "nature of the beast" to sheeple just accept it as such. An unmodified vehicle from the factory doing any of that shit is just that, a bunch of shit. If you like and crave shit then just accept it and continue to make it worse for yourselves and everyone else who don't. Anyone attempting to say it isn't is so full of shit their eyes are brown.

This made my morning. Its so true..

Its sad as hell that a large percentage of owners are having to track down and research and fix and bandaid problems on these trucks, many of which have been known for years now and are easy fixes that just keep going on wrong.

and then some, like the leaf springs.. a tsb for 5 plus years? really. How easy would it be for toyota to just stop using the shit leaf packs?

I am sure there is enough profit margin to improve the leafs without any price increase, the fact that it continues is hard for me to swallow....how much is it costing to replace the leafs with more crap via the TSB's...they got to pull their heads out there ass on this one....

Toyota needs to address these concerns pronto...
