So are you saying that motorcycles should have head restraints?

For those that use the bubble mirror on the side, aren't they too small for night time? If you buy a large side, it blocks most of view. Maybe I should look for a really large one that covers most of the side mirror and use it as a whole mirror.

For those without the rear view camera, why not using the convex mirror, like Broadway? All my other cars have these except the Tacoma because of the camera monitor. I tried to clip the Broadway off to the side, not to cover the camemra monitor but it looked a little confusing for someone who is not used to it.

I also set the side mirrors view away from the car to cover as much blind spots as possible but it still doesn't give enough confidence and force driver (my kid) to turn around. So many cars on the freeway now a day and less space between cars so turning around to check is a bit risky.

Still looking for a better solution.

    thx

I haven't read this whole thread, but as someone who has had multiple high speed rollovers, I would not be caught dead without headrests! I would also sooner take a rollover at 100+ km/h with headrests than a minor collision from behind without headrests. Your neck is one thing that will seriously fuck up your life if you don't take care of it.

    my 2 cents...

In IIHS roof strength testing, the Tacoma roof was tested to withstand 12,074 lb of force (applied at an angle), or 3 times the truck's weight. If the roof somehow still caves in, the headrest won't save you.

Access Cab seatbacks don't fold flat. What I do is simply recline the front passenger seatback all the way when it isn't occupied. I don't find the driver's headrest bothersome at all.

Because there's no fixed B-pillar, the window frame in the Access Cab door has to be made thick to meet current side-impact and rollover requirements.

Apparently it is required to install a fender mirror on pickups and SUVs in Japan:

The passenger seat DOES fold flat. they don't recline flat, but they fold forward providing a flat surface to use as a package tray/table of sorts....

The seatbacks on my 2010 Access Cab fold flat. There's a little lever at the base of the seatback that lets you flip the seatback forward to lay flush on the seat itself.
Did they change that in the newer models or something?

This is more blunt than what I was going to say but it sums things up perfectly. Neck injuries are no joke, I'd rather take my chances missing something when I turn around than risk paralysis in an accident. Put them back on and learn to live with it, sorry but you're stupid if you don't.

Congratulations. Your Tacoma has an active headrest system. You've just insured that the headrest will snap backwards in a collision, increasing your injuries.

As to the rest of your babble regarding motorcycles, I don't ride them.
