No will that help? I used 80-90 like I did in everything else. Josh (Inchworm) said it would be fine.

If that will solve the whine I am game to give it a shot!

Yeah I did. But then the whine started, and I checked and it was empty! Filled it again and the same thing happened. Then I remembered it fills the tailhousing from the trans too  (apparently it only makes it's way there when its running/slinging it there)

Aren't you a bit worried about how steep the drive shaft angle is?

    Not really.

I'm using two oem rear drive shafts with the CVs/Double cardan joints, one of which is for the front. They're much more forgiving and no need for a two-piece driveshaft and carrier bearing. Plus the front will be much longer than most SAS/SAC builds (~10 additional inches, IIRC), considering the engine was moved back 4 inches and I have the crawl box in. Would be cool if I could get the front and rear the same length so I could carry a spare driveshaft that could be used for either front or rear.

    Define 'truck'. haha :p

It's really a LOT easier to work on the truck this way with the whole floor out. Plus I didn't want it to look like total shit with the floor cut/modified in random areas. It'll be cleaner looking once I'm done. I think the next major purchase will be the seats so I can figure out where exactly I want the floor structure. They're probably gonna be Corbeau Baja XPs unless someone convinces me otherwise haha

Been busy though. The 5th set of arms was again F^$@ed up so I tried to modify the plate that sits on top of the kingpin so it will work well enough that I can move on. You can see from the pics just how far off-center the bored out area is.

Working on the double shear for the knuckles and the panhard bracket now. I cut off the other brackets and I'm starting from scratch as soon as some tabs arrive.

Also gonna try mounting the steering box at a slight angle to reduce the chance of heim getting maxed out/binding while the passenger side is at full droop.

Keep up the good work. I've been divorced, it's not fun. I'm currently with a decent enough woman and have a friend's whose garage I may work in, but I still really want my own garage. In any case, your story is inspirational. It's important that YOU make YOUR own damn fudge sundae, even if that fudge sundae comes in the form of a truck. Make it to YOUR liking.

Exactly! Truck time is my therapy time. :D Well worth the money.

Wish I could, I'm scheduled for work this weekend though. :( I'll definitely have to come by sometime soon though.

    Happy now? :p

Made the tie rod/drag link setup with double shear using some 1/4" plate. I may add more plate where it meets the knuckle just because.

Finally got around to building a rolling cart for the 60 at ride height.

Waiting for some tabs to arrive so I can rebuild the link brackets and figure out where exactly I want the steering box and panhard.

Definitely reinforce that double shear plate at the knuckle. 1/4" is kinda thin. I laminated and plug welded two pieces of 3/16" together for mine.

That cart is a good idea. It looks like you have an angle finder on the axle to "set" caster...just FYI these axles (1978-79 Ford D60) like about 7° at ride height, but knuckles lean back not forward like yours is sitting.

Thought it was positive caster that they run with? Or is that just dodge/chevy axles?

I was trying to get the pinion pointed at the tcase unless that only matters with the rear axle.
