    back to bone stock.
i just slept in the back of my AC cab. everyone else was setting up tents..i just parked. leaving camp was the best. tossed my backpack in. put my bow back into the storage case..and drove off. watching the guys break down tents in my rearview was priceless.

i just tossed in my camp chair, boxed up a few camp essentials.and was gone.

i have a cot, but the cot is about 4" too long..damn. it would have been palatial. i love me some long bed.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
Put the gate down for the cot :)

I agree. I've had so many occasions where I just barely fit everything for the dump run or the hardware store trip into the bed on my truck. No way it would have fit with a shorty bed.

It actually was kind of funny at the dealership, though. The sales guy kept trying to talk me into a DCSB. I pointed out that I don't have kids, and I need cargo space in the bed more than I need passenger space in the cab. He got this huge grin and says "well, we do have the DCLB right over there, you know."
I pointed out that if I went with a DCLB then I'd have so much wheelbase that I might as well step up into a Tundra, which would have cost me an extra $3-4k (based on what they had for used on the lot) over the Tacoma AC I was there looking at, and that I wasn't interested in the Tundra because of the extra cost and the lower MPG.
And then he had to totally change his tack because the upsell to the Tundra was his obvious plan all along...

they tried to sell me on the bed extender..

so i can put 500 lbs anywhere in the 6ft bed without worry that its going to fall off, yet someone thinks three metal tubes and the tailgate will make up for it? i feel like im going to break my tailgate clean off sometimes with just my 215 lbs moving around.

plus, 6ft with the tailgate down is 7 1/2 feet so i can haul boards and plywood etc from home depot without a ton of extra straps and worrying about staple or taped on flags falling off.

Dont get me wrong, i gave the short bed a shot. And i am not saying all trucks should be long bed. For many people the 5ft bed is just fine...

now the ridgeline.. that is a useless bed! cool trunk under the bed though.

Yeah, unless you get a flat tire while you're loaded. Nothing like unloading a yard of gravel or mulch on the side of the road so that you can get at your spare!

toyota roadside assistance, let them do it for free.

Im mostly kidding, i have been there and done that.

I only take my spare with on road trips or when towing/wheeling now. If i have a flat then i have the GF bring my spare and aluminum floor jack etc, but i rarely have a flat these days. I dont really go more than 30 miles from the house at any time other than the above.

I'm sure they'd be totally cool with doing a free tire swap on a Honda ;)

I went with a double cab short box for several reasons. I needed a truck that I could fit my 2 teenage boys in the back seat, had to be able to tow minimum 5000# and it needed to be a good maneuverable off road vehicle and it had to be able to maneuver around town. If I was to get a long box I would go ahead and just get a Tundra.
Oh yea, I can make tighter turns on a trail than a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.

i chose access cab just so i could have the longer bed. i dont like the look of the 4dr long beds at all and i feel the 4 dr short beds are useless. ive had to haul many things in my truck that i could have never done with a 4 dr short bed.

when i bought my truck in march 2013 it was impossible to find access cab 4x4. i had to wait about a month and a half from the day i put my deposit down. do they not make very many of them anymore? i was in oklahoma city and the dealer had to trade with a dealer in mississippi cause it was the only one in gulf states region that didnt have a deposit on it or already sold before it hit the lot. or i had the option of having one built which i was told could be 2-3 months.

No hondas here :) 4runner and tacoma. The ridgeline thing was because I took care of one for a friend while she was gone for a year. Completely useless bed that everything blows out of.. the worst wind current ive ever seen in a truck bed. And its tiny with super high sides. The trunk is pretty cool with the remote power locks and stuff and the swing away or fold down two way tailgate and the nice auto cargo lighting are all cool.

This statement will be valid only if both will be priced equal. When one is more expensive than other, now it just appear to give a cheap person a reason to live with his choice.

Right, but we were talking about a Honda, the Ridgeline, and how it's got that cool trunk (which is neat), but that the spare tire is impossible to access if you've got anything in the bed. So Toyota wouldn't want to do a flat fix on the Ridgeline.

yeah, because the first 100 pages are completely on topic:rolleyes:

But whatever. Unbunch your knickers, I'd say the discussion about the Ridgelines is pretty much done.
