i bought the coils used so they might already be settled from the previous guy, not sure, also wish i had got the 885x instead, i got the regular 885's but that why i went with a small spacer too, even if they sag hopefully the spacer will make up for it. Well see thursday, im going to take measurements tonight from the center of the wheel to the fender then check it again once the lifts in.

This. Apparently SPC dropped the ball joints for a 4Runner/FJ in the wrong box, so they are shipping out the correct ones soon. Toytec did all of the leg work, I got this cleared up with two short emails.

Incidentally, does anyone here need new SPC ball joints for an '03 and up 4Runner or FJ? Maybe I can make back some of the money that I overpaid...

I read about half this thread along with other looking, then i decided i'd just ask. I have a 2014 DCLB, I'm about to pull the trigger on this OME kit with the dakar pack and TC UCA. My questions:
    885 or 886?
I know 886 will be stiffer but will they hold the lift any better than the 885?
No plans for armor as of now, but maybe sliders.
If I go 886, can/should I use the top spacer as well?
I remember reading something saying its not recommended.

It's all preference. With a DCLB I would personally go 886s and no top plates. I was running 886s without any weight on my DCSB, now that I've added sliders and full skids it's not so bad. To answer your question about 'holding' the lift better, the newer 'x' version of the 885/886 won't have sagging issues so you won't have a problem with either.

Awesome. Thanks. What kind of wheel/tire setup do you have?

The 886x coils are designed for the front end weight of a plate bumper and even a winch, most peeps on here run the 885x coils and thats even with double cabs. I would think running 886x coils even with sliders (this doesn't really contribute to a whole lot of front end weight) the quality of ride would be pretty darn stiff.

Satoshi'd grill. blacked out badges. aftermarket sound system. De-chromed and color matched. OME 885s + Dakars with 3rd leaf removed. LR UCAs. Scs stealth 6 with 285 duratracs. BAMF sliders
I would go with 885s. They still do well with some extra weight.

Ok, thanks. Is the carrier bearing drop kit necessary?

Not disagreeing with you, but after my full OME/Dakar install, it did reduce the takeoff shudder from pretty noticeable through 5-15MPH to almost nothing down around 5MPH.

I still want to get under there and measure angles and shim appropriately to eliminate the vibes altogether.

Yeah. I should have said 'wait until you install your lift and then see if you need it'

Will post more later. The truck sits exactly level now with 3 in the front and 2+ in the back till it settles

I've run 885s, 886s and kings with 700 pound coils. I ran 886s without any weight, and went on 2 wheeling trips with them on and it was fine, the only downfall was it rode like a tank which was fine with me. Added skids and sliders and it's still not bad to me, it's all preference.
Also an option, I would get the 886s though if you plan on getting a winch, bumper combo though.
I bought 2 actually, 1 rid the majority of the vibes and the other helped even more. I still had a 20 mph vibe that I got rid of by swapping to a 1 piece drive shaft. My opinion, buy at least 1 set, if you don't use them you can sell them pretty fast on here.

    Too few to list.
From what I've read, the shortbeds have the most problems with vibes. I'm currently at 23 1/4" center hub to fender fronts and 24 1/2" rear and have no vibes. Only thing I did was a CB drop. Most likely because I'm long bed so driveshaft is longer so angles are not as bad. It's a hit or miss with the shims, same with CB flip. All trial and error for each truck.
