Something I learned after making my last post:

The SR5 and Limited model have the electronic 4x4 selector switch (similar to that of a Tacoma), whereas the Trail Edition still has the manual shifter.

    Any idea why?

Cowboytaco you said the 4runners no longer have a shifter for 4wd? Because mine does? Im not all that familiar with the transfer cases on the 4runners. I assume your telling me the shifter is basically an electronic swith that shifts the vehicle into the desired 4wd mode? Is that the case on this truck? Because im used to my jeep which was a "manual" shift transfer case with no electronics involved. Im not crazy about any 4wd or traction control thats controlled electronically. On another note i picked up my 4runner and i love it. I dont really like the silver bumper so i think im going to have that vinyl wrapped black. Then get some BFG a/t's when i save up some coin. If anyone is running bfg a/t's whats a good load rating for this truck i wonder?

You don't have to get it wrapped. I don't know if you have ever heard of plasti-dip, but they sell it at lowes and Home Depot.

It's like a spray on rubber that holds up pretty good, it will give you that matte black look and be easily removed if need be. Just take off that skid and spray a few coats.

No, you have a Trail Edition. You have the more bad ass model. Next time you are on the lot (for the free oil change if you take them up on that) go check out an SR5 or Limited model. They have an electronic switch...

Agree that it's more BA, but that just doesn't seem like it makes economical sense. Seems like they should all be the same.

It doesn't cost Toyota much to put the FJ transfer case in the 4Runner Trail. ;)

plasti dip holds up pretty well, and may not be as easy as said to remove but it is still removable. just takes a little work..

the last picture is im waiting to do the roof in black, i ran out of dip and time. the red overspray on the roof doesnt matter because it goes right under the black

I'm not so sure I like the smaller nav screen on the 2014. The 2011 is a bit bigger.

I just plasti-dipped the front. I wanted to get it wrapped just to cover the license plate bracket holes but oh well. This was a lot cheaper and I can get an idea of how I like it.

When the first pics of the redesigned look 2012 Tacomas came out I was like :puke:, but then when I saw one actually rolling down the street in real life I was like .

I think the same will happen in this case.

Complete agreement. I was so upset at the 2nd gen Tacomas in general. Hated the angular wheel wells/flares. Now I wouldn't change a thing, the 2nd gens look awesome!

I think the '14 4Runners look great though.
