battery terminal, how do i make the stock square pos wire connect?

Hello,

I got a Knukonceptz positive battery terminal but could not get my stock big square terminal connected on top of it? I tried searching but couldn't find out how to make it work. Is there a different terminal I should use? Very confusing but no one else seems to have this problem posted. Please assist. Thank you in advance.

Pics of the issue would help.

You may need to trim down the stock terminal on the sides to fit to the terminal post clamp.

Yes, this is exactly what I'm referring to! It looks like you trimed the square piece to be round to fit the middle post? I believe you have the EXACT set up as mine, even down to the new blue 4 gauge amp wire! Thanks in advance for any clarification.

Also, how did you hook up the extra ground wire? These stock cables aren't very good, sturdy or FLAT. It has all these bends in it that makes for poor contact. Did you upgrade the neg terminal too? Thanks for taking the picture, as the saying goes, it was worth a thousand words! You're awesome for assisting me!

Not sure what you mean by the extra ground. The ground from the amps is connected to the rear seatbelt bolt.

I did not upgrade the negative terminal nor the other cables under the hood. I didn't have any issues with current draw, so didn't feel it was needed to switch out the big three.

 

That's what I meant, it was suggested that I upgrade the ground from the battery too.

Can I confirm that you took a dremel or metal cutter and trimmed the square stock piece to be round to fit the post? Thanks again for your help!

I, in fact, used a dremel with the ceramic cutoff wheels.

As I said, I didn't have any issues with current draw or lights dimming, so I never got around to upgrading the big three. I'd recommend doing it if you have the spare cable and time, as preventative fun.

BTW, my new blue power wire was purchased in 2000. I bought a full spool of it from knukonceptz before they were more than a one man show. Barely had a functioning website then, if I recall correctly.

I used to install stereos for friends on a referral basis. Good gig for a while, made a little bit of cash. Mostly did it for extra stereo stuff. I'd do the research for products, order them and install them for people if I could add a HU or subs to the order on thier bill. Worked out pretty well. Install a HU, speakers, amps and new wires and get an amp or something out of the deal. It is how I got all the random crap that I have now.

Well, thanks to Sooner07 and his great reference pics, I decided to do the exact same thing. It took but 2 songs and 3 wheels to cut four sides off of the connection, the first two were the hang down parts on the sides and the other two were to get the angle right at the tip.

I upgraded the positive and negative posts since I was in there. I also upgraded the ground cable to body, with a good sanding of the ground portion of the chassis, a quick little spin with the sanding wheel got me where I need to be in seconds, damn that dremel is awesome.

I have not connected the positive 4 gauge cable yet as I haven't hooked up the amp yet, but I am prepared.

Anyways, I posted pics in case someone in the future has the same question. Big difference between the old and the new!

Thanks, I've really taken an interest in doing all the work myself and it's been quite rewarding. The folks on this forum are more than helpful when it comes to doing your own mods. Sooner07 was a big help to me on this one as I was scratching my head thinking, it don't fit and I didn't feel right messing with the stock configuration. But if it worked for others, then it will work for me!

It does look good zero niner. It is making me consider switching out the terminal clamp on the ground side of my battery now.
