I woke up this morning and had home made egg and sausage sandwiches. I also decided to watch some more episodes of prison break. Great tv series if you ask me. Oh and i almost got laid too....

    umm..ok.

been driving my access since late 2005. i use mirrors, but also do a quick head turn to check before changing lanes. i've never had an issue with the head rests blocking my view.

So irrelevant to the thread. Prison Break is a good show, *cough*, okay. And almost getting some with your hand doesn't count. LOL.

I like the compromise of turning the head restraint around and I think I'm probably going to keep that. The ability to see motorcycles in my blind spot is worth the risk to me. You guys that ride motorcycles should be happy about this. How many times have you been riding your bikes and a car pulls right into your lane? My point, by the way, is that the *absolute* risk of riding a motorcycle is so much greater than driving a truck that the increased *relative* risk of modifying the head restraint is small by comparison. Yet no one is freaking out about riding motorcycles. I think it comes down to whether you consider these actions as necessary or unnecessary. I see getting an unobstructed view as a necessary risk, but riding a motorcycle in the first place strikes me as an unnecessary risk, regardless of safety precautions taken. Just my opinion, I realize. At any rate I appreciate the people that took the time to offer some advice about addressing the root problem of decreased visibility.

i remember seeing slo-mo video of rear end accidents. the dummy's neck bend waaay back the head hits the back of the seat.. no thanks.

you just need to catch a glimpse of the blind spot. i dont need a picture window. i'm good with the headrest.

I wonder what the OP's insurance company would say about him removing his headrests from their vehicle? Especially if they're in an accident?

maybe I'm wrong, but the seats in OP's pics appear to be the base buckets. the blanks in the dash ( lack of SR5/TRD accessories- power mirrors, fogs, inverter, diff lock, etc) seem to suggest he has a base model automatic. I would think, then, that he should have the standard folding buckets. No?
