all I want to know is, has anyone with an automatic Tacoma with the trd factory tune noticed any difference installing the BD tuner? if so what did you think, was it a significant improvement? were the shifts any different? did your boost levels change?
trying to decide if this is worthwhile for me or not.

Do you mean factory tune as in NA? or supercharger re-flash factory tune?
From the hemi BD tuners i have used, the shift modes are user programmable, so you get to pick whether you want stock, towing, aggressive (or w/e they call it). The gains have been sorta minimal for NA tacomas , I think most supercharged guys are waiting on an updated tune to come out.

I'm not offended or anything.. I'm used to it at this point as it seems to be the unfortunate norm.

Been working a lot lately but here are some recent emails between myself and Richard Rowe at TAP Auto....

    Dan,
It has been covered – Full Refund, minus shipping fees incurred on original order.
The shipping fees incurred on original delivery was $9.50
Total to be returned is $719.50
    Thank you,
    Richard Rowe

    Richard,

Just re-read you message and noticed something you mentioned. You mentioned that the return would be minus $9.50 for the original shipping. I paid to return the thing back to you guys PLUS my original price I paid of $729 was with shipping included. How come you guys want me to eat the cost of shipping it back (which I already did) and then eat the cost of original shipping ($9.50) which was part of the original selling price. That would put me out $19 on this whole ordeal and have nothing to show for it… I will give you the $9.50 that I paid as part of return shipping but I think you guys need to eat the other $9.50 that you are trying to get out of me, especially since my original purchase price included that amount…..

    Dan

    Hi Dan,
    Good Morning
Shipping and Handling is separate from the cost of the part itself. When a refund is
being issued, it is for the part. That is why you are seeing a difference in the total price.

I also had a chance to touch base with accounting.

Your credit is pending, but we still need you to cancel the claim so that we can process a
return. There is no option to make an offer.

    Thank you,

    Richard Rowe

But let’s just say for arguments sake that I cancel my Paypal claim and you guys decide to not follow through with the refund. Then I am totally screwed and have no recourse of action. I originally told Paypal that I would accept $729 as a refund. Your accounting department can agree to that and I can send you guys the $9.50, right?

    Dan

    Dan,
Honestly, I think you are going to get the whole $729.00 back.
It’s just that S&H is never part of a credit from the manufacturer.
You will not need to worry about sending $9.50 to us.

    Thank you,
    Richard Rowe

    Richard,

So is your accounting department going to agree with the paypal claim and end this fiasco?

    Dan

    Dan,
The claim has to be cancelled by you, before a credit/refund can be issued.
I looked at it myself. Paypal is reviewing claim and waiting on more documentation
from TAP Auto Parts. Because of this, there is no way to accept claim. It is currently
    being disputed.

Only you can cancel, which will allow us to do our part.

    Everyone is waiting on you!

    Thank you,

    So, bottom line up front...

IF I cancel my Paypal claim and these guys don't follow through with what they are saying above, then I am screwed. What do you guys think?

I assume if you cancel you can't reopen the claim? Thankfully I've never had to file a PayPal claim.

The shipping refund is a pain. I had an issue with wheelers offroad regarding some Alcan springs (suppose to lift my truck but it didn't lift one side and actually lowered the other). I was living in Hawaii at the time so I had to eat shipping both ways. I was pissed.

Tap has screwed up a few things already for TW members... You would think they would eat the shipping since it was borderline false advertising by both bully dog and tap. That way they could show they are a quality vendor. I know of a few people who decided not to buy because of this thread... And if this situation was handled better before this escalated they would have had those sales.

If the refund is coming through PayPal and you have a claim through PayPal on the same item.....it could just be a Paypal rule. That would need to be verified though. If they are refunding to your card that could be different.

From what I understand, they are saying they are going to refund my original form of payment that I used which was a combination of the balance I had left in my Paypal account and then the remainder was pulled from my debit card.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
If Paypal is waiting for further documentation from TAP, wouldn't tap just provide the info that they are going to refund the $729, or whatever amount it is an Paypal will update the claim?

It seems pretty off to have to cancel the claim, thats what Paypal has the resolution center for..

Your saying that TAP should eat the cost because the information Bullydog provided was wrong? You probably blamed your dealership because Toyota didn't put a sunroof in a tacoma too?
    On another note:
It's hard to handle an issue that is simultaneously posted on a forum.

I believe it is still a development thread of sorts. It is getting to the bottom line that this tuner doesn't do everything it was advertised to be able to do and is very informative to not only people that have purchased this tuner, but to people that are contemplating purchasing this tuner and choosing whom to purchase it from...

What kind of power does this thing make on a Tacoma 4.0 w/o a SC?

Heh heh what that sliding glass in the back wasn't just a misplaced sunroof? ( I did state before the sun roof one is obviously not applicable to our trucks)

I would just hope if a retailer was proactively marketing a product they would have some experience with it. When I worked in the bike industry I actually used all of the parts I sold and had first hand knowledge to know if the claims were true. Granted that is more bully dogs fault. So if I was Tap, I would refund it all plus shipping and then get on bully dogs case, for the product info not being as accurate as it could/should be, and request reimbursement from them for the shipping.

I am eagerly awaiting more first hand reviews of the product with more than butt dyno results heh heh. Some more dyno, quarter mile times, or some type of measurable method.
