I have a friend that is a Toyota dealership mechanic. He had an '09 FJ Cruiser come in with 62,000 miles. Teenage girl got it for her birthday and didn't change the oil once.. Locked up.. barely salvaged the heads, but had to order a new bottom end and block. Parents paid for it. Will probably see it again in another 60,000 miles.

My neighbor wasn't much for changing oil. When he pulled the valve covers it looked like black mud and tar - not a pretty sight.

One can never have too many light bars.
Instead of Oil I use the blood of my enemies to lubricate my Tacoma. It runs great.

5w30 Royal Purple is all I've run in the truck so far. Think I'll try Amsoil next time.

I run Motul 300V 5w30 in my STi.

Just put Amsoil signiture in my truck yesterday. I am amazed how it quieted the motor noise. I always hated how noisy the motor was. Now it's smooth and quiet. Huge difference.

    Amsoil FTW!

I've been running Castrol Syntec 5W-30 in my truck with OEM filters. Never burns any oil and the dipstick reads full every time I check. Last time did a 7k change interval and sent the oil to Blackstone. They recommended going to 8500 on the next change but I'm going to push it to 10k and test it again. The oil still looks clean, too. I also drive the crap out of it on back-roads like a sports car.

Has anyone seen the xtreme 4x4 episode where they switch over to royal purple completely. Engine, trans, Tcase, and diffs all got royal purple and got 6 more hp on the dyno. Seeing the results on the dyno sold me on royal purple.

The power block is sponsored by Royal purple so they will do whatever to sell it. Not saying it wasnt true but with any synthetic you will free up some ponies an improve mpg.

WOW! For a mere $200 in fluids I can gain enough HP to make no noticeable difference in my truck's day-to-day driving performance? Most Excellent! :D

Royal Purple dumps a SHIT TON of money into product placement advertising and outright shill work on TV. You just watched one of them.

The gain did not come from RP. Could have been temperature/humidity fluctuations, or any number of things, but it wasn't the RP.

I have a 2013 4.0L... Toyota care is doing the oil changes for first 25k...

Going to switch to 5W30 Mobil1 Synthetic at the end of the maintenance window.

Do you all use the oem oil filter?
