Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
Not really, the 4 leaf pack with the same spring rate up and down will still have more torsional resistance.

The can make a single leaf practically as strong or stiff as they was but the same load spread out over many leaves that are weaker perform better.

Semi eliptic leaves have been around since the dinosaurs and very few chose to go with less leaves.

I dont know whether toyota is trying to call them tapered leaves instead of traditional but no matter what they stink.

If they really want to run such a weak and forgiving 2 leaf pack then they need to to a traction bar or torque rod or spring under. SoMething.. just letting the issue go because even 1/10th of people bring the issue up is pretty far out there.

If 1 in 100 people who bought most products experienced a problem, that problem would be addressed.

I am sorry, I disagree with you. We will have to leave it at that. My experience over the years has shown differently. I have done several custom builds on leaf packs for vehicles, and seen it with my own two eyes. It's all about the progressive leaves. That is what multiple leaves work best on. Each leaf is progressively stronger than the one above it. This allows for a comfortable ride when not loaded, but allows a stronger suspension when it is loaded. This of course has the adverse effect of a stiffer ride.

A single leaf has to do the entire job of comfort and strength. It can't do both equally, so we use a softer primary leaf for the comfort, then add progressively stronger leaves depending on the load expected. When under no load, almost all of the axle wrap that occurs will be based on the first, or at most the first two leaves. The additional leaves do not have ANY affect on axle wrap when the truck is not under a load. So taking a 4 leaf pack that has the same total spring rate of a 2 leaf pack means that the first leaf of the 4 pack would have to be weaker than the first leaf of the 2 pack. What this means is that axle wrap would STILL be just as much of a problem with a 4 leaf as it would a 2 leaf, if both packs had the exact same total spring rate.

Right, I agree to disagree.. partially

But the 2-4 direct comparison I made was mainly just to illustrate that I meant overall spring rate. I do agree that progressive is best but a progressive with more leaves added to end up the same at the end. The spring rate would be higher at the extremes but most people would not nottice because the ones that don't have a problem with the current springs would never reach the stiffer rate (that they could tell) and most of the people with the problems would probably feel a softer more controlled ride because they would not hit the bumpstops as hard if at all.

The current pack has an overload but lacks in everything between empty unloaded and overload spring

Anyway I enjoy the debate rather than the namecalling and finger poking that goes on most the time people on here disagree.

And sorry if my jargon is confusing I'm a very visual minded person so somtimes it does not translate to words very well.

My Taco has none of these issues. No vibration, no leaf spring issues, no frame rust, no nothing. Maybe I am oblivious to them or they just dont exist.

dude, you don't have a doublecab, more pronounced in them and even more in long bed dblcab 4x4. use it like a truck and you will have the weak springs and probably the shudder. some of the shudder comes from how you accelerate, the 2 piece axle is binding. not saying yours does it, looks like you are running stock height tires. running gear has not changed since 2005 except for some getting an extra leaf 3+1 instead of 2+1.

I have only had vibration related to the springs, no front diff issues yet, or frame rust either. But its heading in to its first winter.

I would like to help you with your driveline vibration issue. I imagine that you are taking your truck to Del Toyota. I would suggest that if you are not getting your desired result from them, that you take it elsewhere. There is a dealership in Glen Mills near the 202 and B-More Pike intersection(Carousel?) and another in Limerick off of 422(Tri County). There is also a driveline vibe TSB out as well, look here http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/254438-driveline-vibration-tsb-out.html#post6167065 . You may have some luck having them perform this. The thing that you can do your self, or with some help, is measure your driveline angles. All you need is an angle finder to see if they are with in spec. Basically, the output shaft from the trans and the input on the rear diff need to be parallel to each other on an imaginary line, within a certain measurable range.

Awwwwww, just saw the anonymous neutral rep for voicing my opinion on the acceptance of subpar quality nowadays by the masses (lemmings) as "normal" so it can continue to deteriorate even further. :( So sorry  Signed myself up for some sensitivity training :D

I traded mine in. There were too many "quirks". I felt like a dog chasing my tail because they weren't consistent. When you'd go to take it in, they would stop.

Won't matter, this crap has been accepted so long that it's just gonna be a different set of same or worse shit no matter what you buy. That's where all the silence, politeness, acceptance of it & political correctness has gotten us over the decades.

I felt this way with my 2008.

My 2013 has been almost without issue minus the mistery dead battery.

And the rear spring issue but that is basically expected unfortunately. And I fixed it right away on the 13.

The 2008 has issues, most of which I probably caused but it just felt like the truck hated me. There was always something wrong with it. ALWAYS

I've had a mystery dead battery as well though the good thing is the battery has a longer prorated warranty than the standard 3yr/36K. Mine died at 27K.

Mine was at 8k or so. Ut felt weaker and weaker, then died, but would restart the truck if I went out in less than an hour or two. Jumpstarted it a few times for a few days and then it died. Would not restart the truck at all. So I bump started it for a few days. I finally got a chance to go to toyota and I drove it 26 miles there and waited for 2 hours, driving around town then sat In toyota for 2 hours. I parked the truck went inside and gave them the keys and they had to bring the jump pack out because it was dead. Then they tested the battery and said it was junk and tey were testing the truck and doing a data stream. Then they said the battery was good and they wouldn't warranty it but they were looking for the problem. Finally after 2 hoursthey said I could go gave me my keys.

Total mystery, they said there was nithing wrong with the truck or the batter and they said there weee no voltage draws. I didn't change anything and the last 700 or so miles it has not had an issue.

Mystery. Or fishy. Whatever it is it works now so who cares.

I have owened many different brands and this is the first time EVER I've been told a new truck is supposed to vibrate? If this is the case it will be the last truck I buy from Toyota.Note that I also bought my wife a new Carolla in 2012.I can't believe you would allow trucks that are pretty nice to go un-supported by people who lie and say vibrating drive lines are normal [---001:001276:64685---]

    So do i.

But then, i had filed a complaint with Toyota corporate for my 2012 double cab, they never got back to me.. It was for the springs.

I also tried to reach out to them for the throwout bearing issues in my 2008 4cyl (tsb for v6 none for 4cyl) and no luck. That was when i was in oklahoma and i ended up driving the truck minus the clutch for shifting home to kansas to fix it after it failed completely.
